Just an FYI regarding the Maldol AL-500H. It is very thin, and very limp, and if you put it on a hand-held, it is constantly waving and swirling around. I found the Diamond RH77CA to perform just as well, and it's 4" shorter, and not so unruly. It's half the price too!

I've been comparing my RH77B with a Condor and a pile of other stock Icom and Uniden antennas and a RS whip that I have. The RH77B is still winning for general VHF/UHF use that I do..the Condor though it seems maybe a hair lower is very very close.

I just prefer the RH77 because it is lighter than the Condor sitting on top of my smaller radios.

I've got one of the Watson elbow whips and a Maldol 1000 with the double elbows or something like that in the mail too.

Yes, I agree that the Diamond RH77CA does just as well as the Maldol AL-500H on the VHF and UHF airbands. I'm a BIG airband monitor and I couldn't tell the difference in reception!
