I see all these reviews for external speakers. They are great too. A speaker is not just a speaker. I never see talk about what I do for home use. I go to goodwill and get speakers from computers or surround or satelite type stereo speaker setups that have a subwoofer. Example, I'm using a Sony SRS-002 from a surround setup for an external speaker. Cost me a whopping $2 Just cut the end off your line in cable and plug the wires in the back of the speaker. Sounds awesome and no amp needed if it's connected to a base unit. Theres tons to pick and choose from. Bigger ones have a more full sound generally, smaller more tinny with hiss more audible.. Just thought I'd throw that out there. I'll say this Sony sounds better than any dedicated external I've used that wasn't amplified. Since it's more of a midrange speaker it cuts out a lot of hissing too, via whatever filters are on the speakers inside to cut out the high sounds. Happy thrift shopping.
