• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Want to Buy SDS-100 But have seen bad reviews with UHF & VHF analog

It's funny how stereos and speakers used to be pushed as Hi-Fi for high fidelity. Now there is this push to make speakers, radios, and headphone with extreme bass. Because of this things have lost the high frequencies and it sounds like you are listening to a TV from the 1970's.

Advice with power button not turning scanner off

It is interesting that it does turn on with the key but doesn't turn off. That would seem to indicate the key is okay. That was an imbecile answer from AOR support. A low or dead battery could cause it to not turn on but it wouldn't cause it to not turn off. If that were the case no one would...

    SDS100 and SDS200 beginner's guide

Or you should have the expectation that the company would do what decent companies do and hire technical writers to write a decent manual. You should not have to jump through hoops or look in caves and under rocks for information. The dumbest excuse I have heard is that it is too complicated to...

Cool website. Is it locked down to "dispatch only" channels or talk groups for police like Broadcastify?

SDS200 I made an investment in my future...a brand new SDS200!

I'd be very surprised if it didn't already have the Uniden part fix. Some people have installed double sided tape with the Uniden fix but left the backing on the side that contacts the top cover and that has helped by adding extra pressure. I know there were complaints about the keypad back...

SDS200 I made an investment in my future...a brand new SDS200!

It is true. I have read every post on the issue. Everyone was trying to figure out what it was and one of the people here figured it out. The Uniden metal piece "fix" was based on the fix made by someone on these forums.

Have you heard the saying "If you can't buy it twice you can't afford it"? Lol.:D

    SDS100 no audio

So is the key number the same for everyone? In other words if you gave your key to someone else, could they enter it in their radio to unlock the DMR or NXDN upgrades? I assumed the key codes were unique based on serial number and that's the reason you had to register the serial number at...

    SDS100 no audio

I also saw a reply from UPMan saying that if you end up returning a radio with the upgrades for a refund, as long as you have a refund receipt Uniden will refund the cost of the upgrades.

    SDS200 DMR Single Channel Programming

Yes I do see your message here. It is probably the distance. I have a DMR site less than 2 miles from my house running 100 watts and even with a 9 element 13dBi yagi, (although inside) I have trouble picking it up but am using an SDR dongle. Don't have an SDS200 yet. Thank you for replying.

SDS200 I made an investment in my future...a brand new SDS200!

I don't believe the issues are so big as to require a newly designed scanner. The bottom line is whether or not the cost to fix them will be greater than the cost of loss sales if they don't. The really sad thing about this is that the cause for the hum and the fix weren't discovered by Uniden...

SDS200 I made an investment in my future...a brand new SDS200!

Manufacturers I worked for usually had a minimum of two sources for components. That way they don't have all their eggs in one basket should something happen with one of the suppliers. They could be getting LEDs from one supplier that are slightly dimmer or brighter than from the other supplier...

SDS200 I made an investment in my future...a brand new SDS200!

I read the entire thread on the hum issue. What I took away from it was that a great possibility for the reason some units have the hum and others don't is in how the top cover was screwed down. If multiple people are installing the top cover at the factory and some people are using more...

SDS200 I made an investment in my future...a brand new SDS200!

If there were complaints in an internet forum and one of their reps participated in that forum, yes they would have. I have been in electronics service my entire adult life, most of it working for the manufacturer. Some had forums on their website where customers posted about problems and if a...

That sure sounds like "gave up" to me. Using different words to mean the same thing. How about this. They didn't give up. They just don't care enough to fix it because they are the only game in town now.

Setup_BCDx36HP wants to "make changes to your device"

For years MAC OS wasn't vulnerable to hacking because it wasn't as popular as PC. Hacking can be anything the hacker wants it to be. He can hack his neighbor's computer in his car because the neighbor plays loud music at night, but as a rule yes niche software is less vunerable. I didn't say it...
