• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

Vacation in Blue Ridge area.... need input

Wow, thank you for the education! I take the “database” on here with a grain of salt (good as a foundation to build a “codeplug” on) but I also search through FCC listings, on the FCC site as well. Not as simple as it used to be, when they were given out with a weekly update by a fine...

Vacation in Blue Ridge area.... need input

Not just RR DB, but on an FCC database search also. How can they be "Properly licensed" if the end user, the location, nor the frequencies and Emission codes, aren't even listed?

    BCD996P2 takes forever to program

Had you thoroughly read through all the commentary, you would have noted I have "160+ systems" on GPS. Meaning, there are never more than 2 or 3 scanning at one time. Thank you for the applicable replies. I think it is getting remedied.

G5 won't record analog channel during scan?

Mine has never been able to record analog either. Tried hitting the replay one day on AN, and all I got was Dig playback from when it was parked on Dig.

"USB adapter" wasn't accurate, a USB wire from laptop, straight to my computer. Yes, 160 "systems" are necessary, most counties are covered, with GPS, with some SYS on QK's. Nothing in the background, and I do a bi-weekly defrag. Didn't know if I could speed it up with a better cable, if...

"Send all systems" because sometimes it see's what has changed, and sometimes it doesn't. And I -had- been "Deleting all systems first", but I am considering doing a factory reset next time I dump in a codeplug, and just loading it fresh. And then, I send "send sys QK" But the deleting is...

If I do, I can't locate it. Also, what is the keypress to enable to the display to show more information? I had it at one time, since I got my SDS100/200's, I have been neglecting my old faithful 996P2's

Ok, the only Baudrate I can find is the "GPS Baudrate" and it is a whopping 4800. (Anything higher, and my Uniden GPS puck won't work) Here is the rundown; - Memory= 19% - System (168) = 33% - Site (180) = 18% - Chan (5687) = 22% Firmware is 1.08.1 And I have the codeplug saved...

ARC-XT Pro, even with different computers, different cables, it is still the same. Would it help if I do a "Factory / master reset" of the scanner first? I usually change a lot of things whenever I refresh a codeplug. (If so, what is the process of doing a master reset of the 996P2?)
