• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

    Zetron 4010R

The 4010 can use tone remote control to change channels on the GTR if a tone remote option board is installed inside the 4010. GTR stations running conventional software include TRC keying but the wireline port is limited to analog FM use only. P25 operation would require a DIU3000 between the...

    Motorola 3-way Radio

Three way radio was coined back in the 1940's to describe police radio systems that allowed base-to-mobile, mobile-to-base, and mobile-to-mobile communications. Usually these evolved from a one way system with the base transmitting AM in the 1.6 to 3 MHz band to receivers in the patrol cars, to...

Here's info on statewide TG use: https://das.ohio.gov/Portals/0/DASDivisions/InformationTechnology/IS/MARCS/15MPP%2015.1%20Interoperability%20Talkgroups.pdf The decision to use these statewide groups vs normal dispatch TG's or local tactical TG's is up to the incident commander.

    WS1040: Ohio MARCS

There's no exception for statewide talkgroups. The only time a statewide TG (ECOMM, LECOM, XMARCS, etc.) is heard at a site is because at least one radio is affiliated at that site. The only TG's with a forced affiliation I'm aware of are fire alerting TG's where Unication pagers are in use...
