• Effective immediately we will be deleting, without notice, any negative threads or posts that deal with the use of encryption and streaming of scanner audio.

We've noticed a huge increase in rants and negative posts that revolve around agencies going to encryption due to the broadcasting of scanner audio on the internet. It's now worn out and continues to be the same recycled rants. These rants hijack the threads and derail the conversation. They no longer have a place anywhere on this forum other than in the designated threads in the Rants forum in the Tavern.

If you violate these guidelines your post will be deleted without notice and an infraction will be issued. We are not against discussion of this issue. You just need to do it in the right place. For example:

    San Diego area database request

Mike, check your private messages, I sent you a full RRdb conversion file, RCS to NextGen, with the converted talkgroup ID's. It basically the standard RRdb RCS import with talkgroups converted, in Sentinel format.

I don't think it's too hard to simply create a normal P25 standard system and type in 4 control channels. Paul

G5 zone menu unavailable during receive

Uggy...yeah, I may have to reserve like ch8 in each zone for zone changing. I just get so confused looking at the programming software I wasn't sure if there was a way to get it to work while receiving. Paul

SDS200 Does ESN matter when batch writing SD cards?

I see the ESN being displayed on the SD card I am writing to. I need to batch program 12 SDS200's from a pile of little SD cards. Does it matter which card goes into which scanner, or is the ESN ignored assuming all the scanners are on the same firmware level? Paul

G5 zone menu unavailable during receive

Is there any way to access the zone or menu system while the G5 is actively receiving? I am finding it hard to work with this radio because I am unable to change zones because it is always receiving. I have actually had to revert to removing the antenna just to be able to change zones. :( Paul

    San Diego area database request

Would someone mind please ADDING ALL THE TALKGROUPS to the SD City 700 and NextGen RRdb pages! SDPD is practically lit up on every 800MHz talkgroup on 700MHz, and even some Disp 2 traffic is 700MHz nowadays. NextGen will be lighting off like crazy this week, all of north county on it by end of...

Make sure you have the 2D site setting value in there. I would think with that and site trunking, it would reject site 41 (29 hex) as not having a matching site ID (hex) Paul Paul

    SDS200 "filter" settings

I don't think Uniden knows how the filters work, threw some weird code that some fired employee wrote but never left info on, put them into the scanner and is letting us figure it out "group think" style :-) Paul

My G5 is programmed for site trunking, and I entered the site ID of 2D for site 45, and it sticks there even if it goes "out of range" and bonks and blinks red until it gets signal back on site 44 RFSS/Site 1/2D. I found a tiny spot on my window sill where site 45 will come in with indicated...

You should be able to go into the menu and simply make a nee "P25 Trunking" one channel trunking system, add the CC, and just set it to search just to get some audio going. If you want to add a bandplan to get the scanner trunking quicker, you can find it at scandiego under the RCS sites...

996XT receiving the Phase 1 Escondido and Northcomm dispatches pretty well last night...996XT likes NextGen better than SD 700. In a blind scan test, 4 out of 5 scanners agreed. :-) Paul
