    Eldora Mountain Resort now MOTOTRBO

Broadly speaking, tactical relates to detailed planning. It is a common misconception that the term 'tactical' is somehow limited only to SWAT or undercover type activities. Tactical, or Tac, is an entirely appropriate designator for radio channels where users customarily go to talk in more...

HERO units now on Ga Tech Phase II System!

The HERO chief's letter complains three times about the "new radios". I assumed that referred to the newer SoLinc LTE devices. I had thought they switched to LTE before complaints increased and they finally went to P25.

HERO units now on Ga Tech Phase II System!

Note though their stated mission: "...primary duty to clear roads so that normal traffic flow is restored. HEROs also assist stranded motorists with flat tires, dead batteries or in need of fuel or coolant." The first part is no less "necessary" than the existence of GSP, which of course does...

HERO units now on Ga Tech Phase II System!

What a great article. This is especially amazing to me because they switched from SoLinc - which I would have thought had great coverage across the metro - to a P25 system with only a single tower downtown - which I would have thought would have eroding coverage more than a few miles from...

    Tucson Fire Automated Dispatch

Are you saying this about Phoenix and assuming it applies to Tucson too? It doesn't.

    Tucson Fire Automated Dispatch

The automated voice is an 'acquired taste' :) Of course, I've also listened to plenty of human dispatcher voices I've wished I could switch to an automated voice. The voice TFD is using is as upbeat and energetic at the end of her shift as she was at the start. She never mumbles. She never...

    Tucson Fire Automated Dispatch

All that was true before the level of reliance on in-vehicle computers that we have now. Most of the dispatchers I've talked to love the automated dispatches once they get used to it, because it frees them up to do other tasks that are more important than reading words off a screen into a...

HERO units now on Ga Tech Phase II System!

The Extra Mile Blog says "HERO Master Operator program was initiated in 2016. They are responsible for patrolling, security sweeping and reversing traffic on the state’s I-75 South Metro Reversible Express Lanes in Cobb, Henry and Clayton counties." The unit IDs I am hearing on what I've labeled...

HERO units now on Ga Tech Phase II System!

I think you're exactly right. As luck would have it, just today I heard a unit on what I've labeled Central say he is "back on Alpha Dispatch". Take a look at http://www.dot.ga.gov/AboutGeorgia/Board/Board%20Meeting%20Documents/TheHEROProgramat25.pdf See Slide 4. I bet if we match up the HERO...

    New TDIG’s in Cobb TRS

Forsyth County SO Patrol 2. The Cobb, Forsyth, and Bartow 'systems' are technically one system (one core, at least) and should arguably be combined in the RR database. That will mean needing to select the right site when trying to listen to Forsyth and Bartow, however. Overlap between them is...

    New Fulton P25 talk groups?

Good catch! Looks like you've stumbled on the new Cobb PD Precinct 2 ISSI roaming on the Fulton system. This allows Cobb PD precinct 2 portables to roam onto the Fulton system and bring their Precinct 2 traffic with them for so long as they need the link (e.g. while they are at a location with...

    Forsyth County

The feed? Oh, I have no idea. I listen to an actual radio. Feeds could be broadcasting anything and labels may not match what is being broadcast.

    Forsyth County

I am not sure what you are asking. Both FCSO and FCFD are on the Forsyth County digital trunked radio system. FCFD is encrypted and FCSO is in the clear. I am listening to FCSO now. Dan

    AZWIN and D.P.S. in Tucson

On a related note, see item 2(a) in the document at http://www.azdps.gov/sites/default/files/media/FY2019%20DPS%20Strategic%20Plan.pdf Sometimes I hear doubt as to whether DPS even intends to migrate routine patrol operations to AZWINS from the UHF system. This seems to make clear it absolutely...

    AZWIN and D.P.S. in Tucson

Since Tyrone mentioned that individual radio IDs are showing up, suggesting this is a live talk group and not merely a patch from UHF, I went ahead and updated the database here.

    Questions about GATRRS/Austin P25

How is traffic currently split between Simulcast 1 and Simulcast 2? Do they completely overlap eachother, and is the split just for capacity reasons? If so, that would be a lot like Simulcast A and Simulcast B on the PCWIN system in Tucson, Arizona (Pima County Wireless Integrated Network...

Question on Another State of Georgia-licensed Fulton County Area Trunk System

I think those may have been part of the old UASI system we used to have in metro Atlanta. Someone had a theory that a simulcast system with towers around the metro area would be useful for interoperability as an overlay on existing sites used by local governments around the area, and DHS was...

    Tucson Fire Automated Dispatch

Really strange. Just spoke to someone at city comm, who talked to the two TFD captains assigned to communications. Neither of them know what that could be. AMR uses the 4 new regional response channels directly, so no need for a special channel for AMR responses anymore.
