Saratoga County Public Safety Project 25 Phase I (From RR)

PulsePoint is tied directly into the county’s CAD system. If you monitor Saratoga County’s VHF Fire/EMS alert frequency you’ll notice calls appear in PulsePoint about 30-60 seconds before the call is put out over the air. Not sure on the exact source of the radio feed in PulsePoint but I believe...

Saratoga County Public Safety Project 25 Phase I (From RR)

I’ve had good luck receiving the P25 system on my BCD436HP using a rubber duck antennae inside the third floor of the Collamer Building downtown. I don’t think you’d have too much of an issue receiving the system downtown. Being a simulcast system, non-SDR scanners will always have issues with...

    Rensselaer co P25 system

Do you have any details as to the traffic on these channels? I assume these unidentified talkgroups are related to today’s protest in Troy but since I wasn’t monitoring the system today I’d be interested to find out what you heard.

    Rennselaer County P25 Volume

Interesting, thanks for the insight on East Greenbush. I’ll have to pay closer attention to the UIDs. I could have sworn all the transmissions had the same ID which would indicate a patch with traffic originating on VHF.

    Rennselaer County P25 Volume

Keep in mind the police talkgroups are all still patched to their conventional P25/analog counterparts. I don’t believe any PD units are natively operating on the system based on the UIDs I’m seeing. So this may have something to do with the volume issue.

    Empire ambulance

Yes, as is listed in the database, Empire Ambulance uses 160.200 with a PL of 173.8. Rensselaer County, New York (NY) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference

Ambulance to Hospital frequencies, Capital District

That makes sense. I always noticed that when a unit inbound to the facility keyed up there was the tones before they started speaking to the hospital. Now I know what they are.

Ambulance to Hospital frequencies, Capital District

I’m pretty sure this is all still accurate (except St Mary’s no longer operates an emergency department so they’re off the list now). I know for sure that Samaritan, Ellis and Saratoga use 155.400. I’ll try to confirm the frequency for the Albany hospitals next time I’m in the area.

    Rensselaer co P25 system

Monitoring this talkgroup tonight with multiple transmissions between field units and dispatch regarding among other things, towing a vehicle by Kearney’s (based in Mechanicville) and asking for dispatch to contact DPW commissioner Gotti. So I’m very certain you were right that it is...

    Troy FD P25

They are two completely different radio systems. One is digital P25 phase 1 and the other is an analog EDACS system.

    Troy FD P25

There was some traffic on that talk group a few months ago but I haven’t heard anything simulcast from the analog to the city’s digital system in a while.

    Rensselaer co P25 system

Logged traffic on TG 206 tonight. Sounded like law enforcement traffic, specifically referencing addresses/locations in Troy. The units were monitoring a house and discussing taking individual into custody. Maybe county probation/parole?

    Albany County Sheriff

I’ve spent some time this afternoon monitoring County Law 1 on the trunked system with an analog scanner locked on 159.360. None of the traffic on the digital side is being broadcast on the analog channel so it does appear the patch from the digital system to the analog frequency has been...

    Which cells to add?

The one issue you’ll run into with the BCD436 with multiple cells on the same system is that while in system/department/channel hold mode the scanner will scan each cell even if the talkgroup you’re holding on like Guilderland Police is only on the county cell. So you may miss transmissions...

    Which cells to add?

Cohoes PD is indeed dispatched on County Law 2. I don’t believe that VHF frequency is in use anymore. I’ve never bothered monitoring the Cohoes cell as county law 2 and county fire 2 are carried on the metro cell. I know when the Cohoes cell first popped up on the system others logged radio IDS...

    HP-2: Schenectady City PD

Where are you located? The Police dispatch signal does not reach too far outside the city. The database is correct, Shenectady PD Dispatch is on 155.640 with a NAC of 293. In the times I’ve been in Schenectady recently I have not heard any activity on 155.700.

    cdta

I believe they're in the process of implementing the P25 system they've built out: https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=9450 Day-to-day operations between buses and dispatch is still on UHF though: https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?aid=7947

    Essex County Fire/EMS paging

Paging for Fire/EMS remains on Low Band. When the new radio system was being developed it was found not feasible (due to a need for additional towers and frequency availability) to move paging to VHF-high. I don’t regularly monitor Essex county so I can’t say what their dispatching protocol...

    Troy p25 system

So I left discovery running on this system this morning and found a few things. I also logged a couple of hits on 4119 that sound like a patch from Troy Fire 1. The field units audio was not very clear, dispatch was clearer. Based on the number of hits it doesn’t seem to be a full-time patch...

    Watervliet Arsenal

They’re still active on the 300mhz channels every so often. I pick up chatter on both the Police and Fire frequencies occasionally from Troy. It is intermittent though. As Dave said, the Arsenal’s fire department is dispatched by Albany County on County Fire 2.
