    Best Antenna for P25P2

Thanks. I have one similar 800mHz rubber ducky (but different) with the right angle adapter. I'll give it a try and then order the Remtronix if I don't see an improvement.

...made by GRE who was making the radios for Radio Shack at that time. When GRE went out of business, supposedly a GRE employee started the remtronix company. It is the same antenna except they made the Improvement of the water-resistant mount that fits the proprietary antenna connection on the...

    Best Antenna for P25P2

...BNC mount and a right angle adapter. UHF reception is okay but it's not tuned for that and VHF High is not good at all. If you go to the remtronix website they do offer another back of set antenna that is similar to this. From the description of the antenna you said you're using now it...

    Best Antenna for P25P2

After 24 hrs of light listening, there is an improvement in reception with the new antenna. Pleased with that improvement. Still experiencing some "drop off" of signal. Perhaps just my department since they just transitioned to P25P2 and may be working out some issues. Thanks to everyone for...

@TailGator911 so the REM-800B Remtronix would be good to use with Ohio MARCS and conventional frequencies?

That's a sweet-looking VHF/ UHF dual band antenna and as long as you don't have to listen to any 7 - 800 megahertz systems should work good for you.

Looking at this antenna now. It's the same price as the Remtronix at Scanner Master without the outrageous shipping fee. https://www.amazon.com/AEcreative-Wide-Band-BCD436HP-BCD396XT-RadioShack/dp/B07HDS7PG4

The bnc version of the Remtronix antenna can be purchased at Ebay. To be honest, with being locked onto one site and getting great reception, I really don't think I need the Remtronix nor the AEcreative. Unsure what I'll do at this point Bob.

As long as the MARCS sites in your area are 7/800, the Remtronix is an excellent choice for monitoring that.

...comes in well and doesn't need Improvement it might be worth saving the couple of dollars you don't want to spend on Scanner Master for the remtronix for shipping to get the most optimal antenna for any simulcast 7 - 800 megahertz system. You absolutely cannot find a better antenna and even...

That is awesome information and easily understandable for me. Wondering if the same overlay can be done the the stock SDS100 antenna?

Ok. I have a different scanner I use for analog so I'll get the Remtronix for the SDS and scan MARCS with it.

Thanks for posting this. So (displaying my ignorance) let me get this straight: the lower the dip on the graph, the better the reception? If that is true, then the Diamond ought to be outstanding for monitoring the NYS Thruway frequencies (roughly 453-460). Correct? BTW, what is the source of...

...tough spots for reception depending on the RF environment. You may not know it because you're missing the transmission entirely but the remtronix will pull it out. If you want to do wideband surfing on the database you would need a secondary antenna, a wideband antenna like you are...

...It's my go-to antenna for handheld scanning, because it's near the top in VHF and UHF, and decent, if not stellar, for 7/800. Not as good as the Remtronix obviously, but still better than the stock. It's about as close to a single-antenna solution as you'll find, especially if traveling handheld.

...radiated). No. I'm not going to be surprised, because I've tried doing so. And the Diamond is the clear winner in the UHF band over the Remtronix. The Remtronix may be better than the stock antenna for UHF, but that's a really low bar, and you really need to stop recommending it as a "go-to"...

Nice to see this thread come alive again. I feel compelled to throw my two cents in here. I've been using the RS 800 now called remtronix since GRE first developed it many years ago and rebranded it under the Radio Shack name. When GRE then Radio Shack went out of business a GRE employee started...

I'm getting so much now with this cell, I've had to turn many departments off. Earlier I was listening to comms from the OSP Shipley building that is programmed and Logan county sheriff on I'd search and those departments are half of the state away from me in distance.

...years go by I'm listening to less UHF as all of the type II smartzone systems disappear so it's only a few UHF objects I listen to. I use rooftops at home but no doubt the diamond is a superior antenna, I just don't like it in a portable application. My favorite portable antenna is the remtronix.
