    OP25 and a desktop icon

Here's my setup. Super high-tech as you can see. The Raspberry Pi keyboard is great, it feels solid without being bulky and I can plug my dongles into it instead of my Pi. So much easier.

    OP25 and a desktop icon

I just use the default desktop, LXDE. This post actually started out as a question, but as I was typing it a light bulb went off. I added a line to echo my $PYTHONPATH variable and saw it was empty when I launched from the desktop icon. So now it's part of my BASH script it's always set. You're...

    OP25 and a desktop icon

I had been pulling my hair out on this one. I solved the problem. I thought I would share here in case anyone else was running into this issue. Maybe it's just me. I'm using a Raspberry Pi (i.e. Linux) for my setup using OP25 Boatbod. When I invoke my BASH script from the command line, all is...

    OP25 OP25 and Icecast2 Private Server

Thank you all who contributed to this thread. I had the same question and was able to solve the problem and get my own personal scanner online. BCFY already has my area solidly covered, so I'm not sure how much value I'd add by putting up a stream. But at least now I know how.

DSDPlus User-friendly UI for DSDplus/FMP24 scanner - please answer if it already exists

This is sort of an aging thread, but I'll chime in. I have my tablet working the way I want and primarily use DSDPlus for trunking. I use a variety of PowerShell scripts to manage the systems I monitor. I'm hoping this upcoming weekend I'll have some good screenshots and video of how my setup...

    New to SDR, checking in

I decided my own menu was superfluous when I could just use shortcuts on my desktop. Works great.

    The tablet works just fine.

    New to SDR, checking in

I was able to get P25 trunk tracking working on my Chromebook. Here's how I did it. Since my particular Chromebook is ARM-based, the same processor the Raspberry Pi uses, these instructions should work too on the Pi...

DPS VHF P25 vs. GATRRS system

I sometimes hear DPS units on their P25 VHF frequency here in Austin. I also sometimes hear them on the Austin/Travis Co. TRS. They don't appear to be linked. What decides if a trooper is using a VHF radio or a trunked 800 MHz radio?

    TxWARN in Cedar Park

Makes sense. I usually hear DPS units from the Houston area and, for some reason, Washington Co SO.

I saw something that said Windows 10 Home and not S. I guess I'll find out soon enough. :-)

    TxWARN in Cedar Park

Does anyone know why on earth TxWARN has a repeater in Cedar Park (Austin-area)? Their coverage area appears to be metro Houston and the Brazo River basin. All I can come up with is they wanted a tower in Austin due to it being the state capital, but why not put it actually in Austin? I do...

    New to SDR, checking in

This is what I ordered: Amazon.com : 7" PIPO X8PRO Tablet 1280800 Windows 10 or Android OS Intel Z8350 Quad Core 1.84GHz Mini PC HDMI 2G RAM 32G ROM (Single OS Win 10) : Computers & Accessories What I'm not clear on is if it'll even work without AC power. It's mostly for home anyway. I'll keep...

Thanks. I never said when I'd have TIME to do all of this, but I will get to it. ;-)

    New to SDR, checking in

Thanks. I can probably figure it out. I tend to learn by example. I need to find a few examples and go from there. I just haven't put the time into it. Do you know where I could find a simple example such as FM broadcast or VHF/UHF conventional? I'll check out the other two. I've heard of OP25...

    New to SDR, checking in

I have Linux enabled on mine and am running software from that. https://www.androidcentral.com/how-install-linux-apps-your-chromebook I've written up some notes. I did this as I was experimenting, so they could be a little disjointed. I'll clean this page up as I learn more. But most of all...

    New to SDR, checking in

My RTL-SDR arrived the other day. So far I have accomplished... 1. Conventional scanning on my Chromebook. 2. HF reception on my Chromebook. 3. Conventional scanning via an app on my Samsung S9. 4. DSD+ on Windows 10, monitoring P25 TRSes around me. 5. I wrote a pushbutton GUI for DSD+ to...

Legacy Upgrade PSR 800 to Whistler DMR

My PSR-800 arrived today from Whistler following the upgrade. Here was my experience. I live in Austin and the radio was "deaf" to the local simulcast system. I experienced the same in Plano. However it worked great scanning the TxWARN, Louisiana, and Mississippi systems. So I figured my...
