    Norman Police Dispatch

It appears that Norman has changed talk group ID's for several talk groups, including OU PD. Does anyone have any updated TGID's for OUPD and any others that changed?

Montgomery County moving to full-encryption on May 3

Conroe just added patches earlier this week to ALL 6 SO dispatch and tac channels. They now have full interop with the TxWARN system in Montgomery County, and can now all easily interop with agencies. Might as well join the system already!

    Norman Police Dispatch

I can sorta get behind them with this one. I have shown up to many scenes, but are professional and act in a media capacity. Around here most deputies will come say hello and I have even had a trooper tip me off to some good shots. Some random guy with Facebook on his phone would definitely be...

Montgomery County Sheriff's Office to allow media controlled access to encrypted dispatch

I received an email from Lt. Scott Spencer with The Montgomery County Sheriff's Office stating that those who identify as media will soon be allowed to submit an application and go through a background check process to gain access to the newly encrypted dispatch talk groups. I am hoping they...

    Norman Police Dispatch

Good to know!! Do they have any back or supervisor channels that are not listed? I would think that they would at least have to have one. Good to hear that they’re active. Won’t be selling me G5 now, would want to avoid messing around with motorola NAS programming for the time being.

    Norman Police Dispatch

Most fire admin is pretty competent. There’s been stories of fire departments encrypting, then new fire chiefs ordering the reversal of it.

    Norman Police Dispatch

I’m going to OU this fall. Anyone know how active OU PD dispatch is? If they are also encrypted I might go ahead and sell my G5. I’m getting media access back home pretty soon and will have to purchase an APX, so might as well sell it for the extra cash if it’s not worth it.

Montgomery County moving to full-encryption on May 3

Speaking of Conroe PD, they have a patch on their system to both SO 1 and 2, as well as several ops/talk channels, I wonder if they had to temporarily kill those or if they got everyone programmed in time.

Montgomery County moving to full-encryption on May 3

No. Encryption, specifically OTAR, is ~$700+ a radio. Smaller agencies cannot afford that. I am amazed that MCCO Pct 1 finally upgraded to APX's, as they have been using XTS5Ks for YEARS. Their budget is barely over a million per year so this must have been a major purchase for them. I have...

Montgomery County moving to full-encryption on May 3

UPDATE: As of 8:22 AM 5/3, units have been told to switch to new channels respective to their districts. These new channels have AES-256 (unsure if OTAR), and the old ones will be abandoned. They are now fully in the dark. Will try to get more information on whether or not media will have the...

Montgomery County moving to full-encryption on May 3

Just wanted to give everyone a heads up (no discussion intended) that The Montgomery County Sheriff's office will fully encrypt all of their talk groups, including dispatch, on May 3. This is a defined date, unlike the rumors earlier this year. Wreckers will now fully be dispatched via a cell...

Bay County (Motorola Type II Smartnet & P25p2 00A.924B5)

I think the defunk area uses a single site motorola DMR system, but I'm pretty sure that would not be reachable down along the coast, and Motorola has not added CPS to my cart yet so wouldn't be able to listen. Haven't been on an amateur radio repeater in forever, maybe I should hop back on that...

Bay County (Motorola Type II Smartnet & P25p2 00A.924B5)

I am traveling to Santa Rosa beach later this week, does their current Type II system have coverage in that area? By the looks of the map I may be just on the fringe but are unsure. I have a feeling that they are going to follow Walton County and the surrounding areas with full-encryption. Also...

    Montgomery County Law Enforcement...Texas

Do you have a video or document where he discusses open dispatch? I've tried to find everything from the commissioner's court meetings but can only find something that mentions it from November 2019 and from June of 2020. It could just be me being picky with wording, but in the June meeting...

    Montgomery co texas question

Back in the 70s and 80s, the McCullough football coaches doubled as Sheriff's Deputies on the weekends. It is hard for anyone to belive that when I tell them, but it's true. They used to bust parties and kids drinking on the weekends. Times for sure have changed! I don't think anyone back then...

    Montgomery County Law Enforcement...Texas

I truly wonder what his defense would be. The ambush of an officer argument seems ridiculous, as those are random for the most part. I also wonder how he would justify the need for our county to encrypt when HPD already has their dispatch channels in the clear, and how Harris County SO and...

    Droid-star for dmr

If the developer has plans to bring it to iPhone, I would definitely donate some cash to help keep it up. This software has lots of potential I feel.

I hope so too. I am afraid that they are waiting to smoothly transition over to the rotation system and then flip the E switch. There seemed to be a lot of tension today regarding the new system, dispatch seemed very frustrated and annoyed. It was a mess today.

    Montgomery County Law Enforcement...Texas

So the rumors being tossed around the wrecker community are indicating that encryption either will not happen due to logistical issues or it will prove very difficult to roll out and work out mutual aid issues. This is purely speculation, but wreckers seem to know what they are talking about...

According to the discord group for it, the feed is offline due to technical issues. Odds are it will not come back on as encryption is due in 14 days.
