    Review of the CountyComm GP7 / SSB version 4

    Just the idea of a keypad has me thinking about upgrading .... like I *really* need another portable.

    While I'm waiting on the aux shelf, I put the FRG-7 in its rightful place.

    Has anyone experimented with running a loop (Wellbrook or similar) into a modern portable (PL-880, etc.)?

    They were well made and designed right for the job. Shame they only sent two. :) -- Mike

    Has anyone experimented with running a loop (Wellbrook or similar) into a modern portable (PL-880, etc.)?

    Back when I bought my Sony 2010 in 1991, it came with two antenna connectors (as pictured below). I routinely use the one shown to connect any of my portables to my Pixel RF Pro-1B. The second connector is attached to about 75' of wire I can string out anytime I need a random wire. -- Mike

    A discussion on sync detection

    The Synch-AM mode on the Icom R75 was only available on the early production models. Not sure exactly when that was no longer available on the R75. Later models don't include it. Instead, they had the UT-106 DSP unit installed. I don't believe that there is a way to upgrade a later model...

    HF receiver Eaton 750

    When I purchased my first R75, I ran into the noise issue with the AD-55S. Took the radio and the power supply into Universal and we hooked it up there. Quiet as a church mouse. Wasn't that way at home, so I'm *assuming* it was an interaction between the mains and the AD-55S that caused the...

    A discussion on sync detection

    After using my 2010 since '91 and needing to replace the R75 I sold, I did pick up an older R75 with the synch detector. This one didn't have the DSP unit, so that was ordered prior to the radio even shipping to me. Upon receipt, I added the DSP unit and sent it on to Kiwa for their synch...

    What keeps me off the streets at night.

    Heard from the store when I purchased the Paymaster's Table from and where I had the original aux. shelf contracted. A new shop will replicate the aux. shelf for the same amount as the first one. They've been given the go ahead to proceed.

    SDR++

    I have a 2012 HP Pavilion g6 running Win8.1 on an AMD Vision A6 and it runs SDRuno, HDSDR, SDR Console both V2.3 and 3.1 and SDR#. With SDR++, it complains that the SoapySDR.dll is not found on my system, yet SDR++ finds both the Airspy HF+ and SDRplay RSP2.

    SDR++

    Just started playing with SDR++ here. I really like installs that only require moving a folder into the Program directory. Working with the Airspys, the SDRplay RSP2 and RSPduo.

    Countycomm GP-5/SSB gen 3 current drain on the shelf

    Duracells ruined a nice Safariland flashlight that I could not replace. (Flashlights are another vice). Duracell offered something like 60% of the original cost. I took it, just wasn't happy about it. It's either rechargeables now (Ikea LADDA 2450s) or Energizers. -- Mike
