I thought this thread was dead, but I wasn't getting notifications. Anyway, basically many of the Sheriff's TGs (especially patrol) affiliate with both sites. It's been a while since I've heard anything in the clear, but I keep scanning them anyway since you never know.

By "public safety", I'm assuming that Fire will eventually be ENC too? If so, then that is beyond ridiculous.

Same here. Also, trying to listen to systemwide calls doesn't work too.

Can confirm that there was activity earlier on Site 1-002. I'm aware of it. While I don't have an official name, it does appear that TG 8034 is a "Chicago-area" Channel based on what I've heard so far.

I presume you're referring to Cook South as in Site 1-002?

Yes, Calumet City PD is indeed still using analog 800 MHz and was fairly active when I was there. I was referring to the frequencies that are licensed for Lansing. Even if we do find their TG, it's ENC as the attached articles state would happen.

Has anyone ever found the TG that's (reportedly) used by Lansing PD? The DB shows them using SC21 (Cook County Sheriff's node?). I went through Calumet City and Dolton last weekend and didn't hear or receive anything on either VHF or 800 MHz.

It happened earlier this morning at around 0800 hours. Unfortunately, I didn't get to hear much, but MABAS Div 10 Task Force and Div 22 Strike Team consisting of 5 engines was part of the response to this. Last I checked, all lanes are still shut down on I-55...

Hearing some activity on Tinley Park's VHF freq (in analog mode, not P25 though).

I have noticed that both my SDS100 and BCD436HP have some trouble muting encrypted talkgroups on P25 Phase II, and DMR Tier 3 systems. Good to see that Uniden is finally trying to do something about this.

Half agree with the first part. If it's analog, then the x36HP scanners are better. If it's digital VHF/UHF, then the SDS scanners still worked better imo. I 100% agree however that on 700/800 MHz, the SDS's are hard to beat. What antenna are you using? Did you try using the different filters?

Whoops...sorry to leave ya hanging. I totally forgot about this thread. To answer your previous question, as far as UHF-T DMR systems go, I mainly monitor the TRBOconnection-TRBOnexus system. Other than that, I like to monitor the area Hospitals. Since a lot of them use DMR, I have them...

Hmmm...well, good to know that it's still active. As a matter of fact, I heard a few transmissions from them on 470.8625 earlier (fog propagation?). I guess I was either unlucky or simply had some sort of reception issue at the time. Thanks for confirming guys.

I drove to Orland Park yesterday, and was there for a good 3 hrs or so. I noticed that while many of the remaining conventional Law Dispatch freqs were active (including Orland Park's), I never heard any activity from any of the 2 freqs used by Net-7 agencies. I last heard activity from them...

Recently, both the Cook Co and SC21 DB show that Tinley Park uses TG 25312 on the encrypted Cook Co Sheriff's node. I know this thread is about Oak Forest, but just putting out there in case you didn't see it.

I think it was mentioned in the 2023 thread, but it appears that most if not all the Maintenance Garage talkgroups from the ITHA are Phase II now. Also, I've been receiving TG 2009 (Maintenance Car-to-Car) as P2 as well...

I read the article and watched their vid of the segment. To me it comes across as rather desperate and straight up lazy journalism. It does a disservice to those (like many here in RR) who make legitimate arguments on why public safety dispatch comms should be in the clear. Back to the drawing...
