REQ: simplified explanation of SDR demodulation

This is a very low effort response post from ChatGPT. Maybe it will help you?

    Do not buy airspy products

    Same. I don't understand.

    Omaha Scanner Club

You can still listen to fire and other channels (hit and miss depending on what you want to listen to). Some smaller law departments might still be unencrypted too.

"CAD" Law Enforcement Computer Aided Dispatch (911)

I know locally, they connect the laptops using a cellular network card, then CAD connects over standard TCP/IP Communications.

SDR# To my understanding, SDR# has an open API (response to another thread)

I mean, normally threads are locked for a reason, but I'll leave that up to others to judge.

They must have to really get it off their shoulder.

Omaha Police Dispatch WILL be Encrypted 2/27/2023

I can confirm. An end to an era (scanning them). In an ironic twist, the thing that supposedly caused this (streaming feeds) is now provided by dispatch and is the only thing left in the hobby (listening to police radio).

Omaha Police Dispatch WILL be Encrypted 2/27/2023

Welp. It was a good run... One can only hope that this will be reversed some day, but now I'm dumbing down my equipment to all SDR (and not much) with a single Uniden SDS100 that will mostly sit dormant unless I want to listen to local businesses or fire/rescue. Bye bye both of my Uniden G5s.

Omaha Police Dispatch WILL be Encrypted 2/27/2023

If they plan to do it, I hope they do it sooner rather than later. I'd rather they didn't but once they do, I plan to sell my two G5 pagers (used as scanners) while I can still get something for them (going encrypted is becoming much of a norm in the US).

Omaha Police Dispatch WILL be Encrypted 2/27/2023

Feeds are already there but last time I listened, if there was a short transmission followed by a longer one (or even two short ones), they would play over top of each other for a few seconds (like they are being queued).

    G-5 Priority Talk Group

I believe it is dependent on how the P25 system is designed, but don't take my word on it. The G5 will for sure interrupt non-priority for a priority.
