R6 Initial impressions of Icom R6

I've had an R6 for a couple of years, and I agree that it's a great receiver. I recently bought a BC125AT - and I have the impression that the scanner is faster at scanning frequencies than the R6, but I could be mistaken. I'll compare the two again.

    6925 khz LSB PIRATE ???

There are a lot of people employed in fishing fleets who talk illegally on those frequencies. I've heard people talking in Spanish, Russian, and other languages who are fishing at sea.

CASE FOR BC125AT - ANY THAT HAVE NO METAL AND WORK WELL?

Update: I went ahead and bought the Agoz Tech case mentioned by trp2525, which looks like a good value. I talked to a sales rep there who said the case has no metal parts on the inside. Although I'll need to remove the scanner from the case to use it, that case has the important advantage of...

CASE FOR BC125AT - ANY THAT HAVE NO METAL AND WORK WELL?

62Truck: I have owned many radios, but I’ve never kept one in a case with metal parts on the inside. So I don’t have any positive experience using such a case, as you have. If you had read the posts above more carefully, you would have noticed that I acknowledged the response saying they had a...

CASE FOR BC125AT - ANY THAT HAVE NO METAL AND WORK WELL?

Update: I wrote an email to Scanner Master last week, explaining what I am looking for in detail. I said clearly that I need a case with no metal parts on the inside, and I asked if they have any cases for my scanner that meet my needs. The reply was: “Yes we do, please check our web page for...

CASE FOR BC125AT - ANY THAT HAVE NO METAL AND WORK WELL?

I was in the process of doing something like that when I decided to check this thread again….we obviously think alike. I was stuffing some padding at the bottom of the case, but I like your idea, as it would be more likely to stay put. Thanks very much for your response.

CASE FOR BC125AT - ANY THAT HAVE NO METAL AND WORK WELL?

No, I have not seen that case. I’ll take a look at it - thanks! The price is certainly reasonable.

CASE FOR BC125AT - ANY THAT HAVE NO METAL AND WORK WELL?

trp2525: I looked at the cases at Scanner Master. The look nice, but I need more information about them before I could make a purchase. Thanks for the help - I will probably call them and ask some questions.

CASE FOR BC125AT - ANY THAT HAVE NO METAL AND WORK WELL?

captainmax1: thanks for the helpful report on your use of the nylon case. That makes me more inclined to go ahead and use it, at least for a while. Can’t argue with your real-life experience with the case.

CASE FOR BC125AT - ANY THAT HAVE NO METAL AND WORK WELL?

I finally bought a BC125AT - my first real scanner. It's amazingly useful and effective for the price. I'll use it for aircraft and CB traffic monitoring in this busy metro area. Before I can take it outside my apartment, though, there is one problem I need to solve, and I am hoping the...

Police departments across the state flooded DOJ with correspondence about police radio encryption

Actually, in the 1700's in the colonies and USA, individual rights were most often circumscribed and limited by individual responsibilities. These ideas were written into many of the laws, because in those days, it was more popular than it is today in the USA to make a distinction between...

Police departments across the state flooded DOJ with correspondence about police radio encryption

Interesting that you mention that, because I've recently read a thick book about the Seven Years War, among other history books touching on the "New World" colonies. It is clear to me from reading these books that you are not the first person in the UK to remark on this. The British...

    Anything on the aviation frequencies?

I've heard MWARA controllers all over the spectrum, recently, mainly New York and Caribbean. The frequencies change quite a bit day to day, so it is tricky to find them. Here are some of the recent frequencies I've heard them on (in Khz, all USB): 6577, 6586, 6886, 8891, 8918, 11279, 11396...

    R6 Icom IC-R6

I've found that the Butel software works well for the IC-R6, but you can't add a lot of frequencies at once. Add them in small batches, and you'll be fine with that software and the cable from Ebay mentioned by others. The other irritant with the Butel software is that I find I have to tell...
