    TX DPS

Where I am, just SW of the Metroplex, I only hear a call on the DPS channels about once every 3 months. It's always a trooper who lives nearby signing off shift. Other than that, all DPS communication is through the cointy Sheriff's dispatch. I've even heard the sheriff call a Trooper to relay a...

    Fort Worth Fire Question

Thanks to both of you for your input. I don't have the latest and greatest scanner, by far. I should be grateful I can get anything from FWFD at all; in fact for a couple of years I couldn't until a firmware upgrade came out. Some day I'll trade up to something that can track control channels...

    Fort Worth Fire Question

I'm not doing anything to get it to receive voice again. When I get to Fort Worth, I turn it on and it receives until about 9:30, then goes quiet. The next time I go to Ft. Worth, I do the same thing with the same results. It seems strange that it is all the FWFD channels (locution, human...

    Fort Worth Fire Question

I work a couple of days a week in Fort Worth near the 8th Ave medical area. On occassion I bring my scanner, programmed for Fort Woth FD, ambulances and the ambulance-to-hospital frequencies. Every time I monitor these frequencies, I find that at 9:30 am plus or minus a few minutes all these...

    Shortwave Station based on location

I'm a little late to this discussion. Like Widdowsson, I was listening in the early 70's from Anchorage when there were an order of magnitude more stations brodcasting. Even so, I was mostly picking up stations from Australia. I was rarely able to get any US stations. Just something about the...

    Lake Granbury Medical Center

I recently programmed in both of the repeater (FB2) frequencies shown on the FCC license info page for Lake Granbury Medical Center. Those frequencies are 463.9875 and 464.3375. I occasionally hear traffic on one or the other; seemingly never both on the same day as if they switch every few...

    Hood County new license

I have heard nothing on the 700 MHz Freq's. GPD apparently went digital on their original frequency over the weekend. I changed from analog to digital and put in NAC 7F3, which corresponds to their old PL tone, and now I get garbled noise when they transmit. Obviously, I'm not getting...

    Hood County new license

Maybe the new frequencies are for Granbury PD, which is dispatched out of the Hood County dispatch center. I have not heard a single PD communication in the last 3 days. I have also not seen or heard any updates about their system.
