    Anytone Anytone D878UVII Plus question

I bought a radio advertised as a UVII Plus but it has a blue button and the hardware version reported on the radio is 1.10. 99% sure that is the 200,000 contact list version with 1GB of storage. Was just hoping someone would check their radio settings and tell me what their UVII Plus hardware...

    Anytone Anytone D878UVII Plus question

Can someone confirm the hardware version of the D878UVII Plus? I think new ones are version 2 however I bought one that is labelled as the D878VUII Plus but reports as hardware version 1.10. Latest firmware is installed. 3.03 Are there older hardware versions of this same radio?

    DMR Hotspot Question

Thanks. I had read their sticky in the forum and blog and just wasn't sure what was going on. Glad to hear that further development is being pursued. That being said I am really liking WPSD.

    DMR Hotspot Question

Yep, that's me and my Tech Blog. Thanks for the kind words. Good point about the internet and outages. Cool MMDVM board. I would also like to get into P25. My only problem around here is there just isn't a large community of users and while we have some hams and repeaters here nobody...

    DMR Hotspot Question

I jumped on the DMR bandwagon a few years back and then summarily stopped doing it. Fast forward 3 years or so and I've just busted all my old gear out again. I have: Original OpenSpot Original Sum spot for Pi Zero W Jumbospot Chinese clone board on Pi Zero W DVMega Simplex on Pi 3 with...

    Charlotte Concord Area

Drove into Charlotte yesterday to visit my daughter. Brought my SDS100 with GPS which turned out to be handy since there was an accident that shut down I-85 and I kinda knew what was going on. I put Sentinel on her computer and installed Charlotte UASI and I already have VIPER installed as I...

    BCD436HP Speaker

My BCD436HP, less than a year old gave up the audio ghost. I was about to box it and send it in when I read a whole bunch of speaker failure posts. Couldn't resist opening it up and testing the speaker. It was bad, and I was still getting audio in the headphones. A new SP631 speaker is...

    Quiet New Bern to Charlotte

Brought my SDS100 to Charlotte with GPS while visiting my daughter. What a contrast from New Bern. We have our moments but Mecklenburg County scanner makes me want to turn around and head home. :)

    SDS200 GPS Wiring

It's easy enough to make a GPS for the SDS200 however I guess the trick is to keep it under a $50 budget or just order the Uniden one. I don't know much about GPS modules (yet) but U-blox chips are wildly counterfeited and rebranded. Sparkfun is an authorized seller however almost all of their...

    SDS200 GPS Wiring

Do you have a link for that? Turns out the board I bought doesn't have a legit U-blox GPS chip on it. Actually it seems to be rebranded but the board has no flash memory on it so it can't be firmware upgraded. At any rate they advertised an 8th gen chip and sent a 7th gen. It works, and it...

    SDS200 GPS Wiring

The 200 has an RJ14 jack on the back and uses 3.3v TTL. The SDS100 uses serial. RS-232

    SDS200 GPS Wiring

There is a great thread on the SDS200 GPS on the forums and with all the different GPS modules and discussion I found that you kind of have to read through all 6 or 7 pages of that thread to put it all together. I have attempted to simplify the steps for the first time DIY'er wanting to build...

    Blue Tail Question

Does the P25RX-II do analog? I see on the Preliminary Specs page that the Modes Supported are all digital. Will it track Analog?

RVA area scanner for a non tech savy beginner

All good advice and I'd like to expand on zip code programming. Right out of the box your scanner probably will need an updated full database. So no matter what you do, at some point, some day, you'll have to hook it up to a computer and programming software and perform some kind of...

GPS BCD436HP and Home Patrol 2

So ........ Officially done messing with GPS pucks for a bit. Re-wired the cable that only works on HP2 so it will work on either HP2 or my BCD436HP. Getting pretty good at it! This one was pretty clean and even zip tied the cables in the junction box so they can't be pulled out...

GPS BCD436HP and Home Patrol 2

By golly you are right. The thread with the HP2 wiring from the old RR post from 2015 where I made my first cable ONLY works with the HP2. The one that I just made for the BCD436HP with different wiring works on either one. I changed my web page and stand corrected. Thanks. I took the...
