    Tait TP8100

Indeed it does. For example, one of my collection... a TP8115 4-button conventional model on the H6 (430-520) frequency range.

    Tait TP8100

You likely want the 8120...the 8140 is a trunking radio for use with MPT-1327 trunking systems. This is the reference page printed off the Tait spec manual....

    Commercial radio for 220?

You can sometimes find Tait 220 MHz stuff on eBay, but it’s extremely rare and you’d be looking at international shipping. I’m a Tait fan/collector so this is something I’ve looked at before, just haven’t managed to snag any yet.

    NMO mount through CFRP?

Well, boat guy wasn't sure if his composite knowledge would translate...definitely wasn't willing to attempt, but he said that a very fine tooth count was best. His concern was that the teeth would tear out the fibers, especially exiting the hole on completion (punch-through, he called it). The...

    NMO mount through CFRP?

Did a bit of looking, and it appears the roof panel is a separate CFRP panel laid in over the actual bodyshell, with a support beam halfway, so I can either center the antenna in the front half or rear half of the roof. I had anticipated increased thickness, being a composite, so planned on a...

    NMO mount through CFRP?

I've seen relatively heavy gauge (as tape goes anyway) copper foil tape...I expect an asterisk pattern of that material nearly the width of the roof would be useable on VHF. There is no sunroof to contend with, though I have not dropped the headliner to see if there are any other obstructions...

    NMO mount through CFRP?

I know there are a lot of professional LMR folks on this forum, so maybe this will catch someone with firsthand knowledge. At one point, the LAPD had a small fleet of BMW i3's. The body on these cars is CFRP (carbon fiber reinforced polymer), so they probably are a pain to set up with mobile...

    EFJ 5300ES Keyload Cable?

I'm curious on this topic as well, planning on installing remote-head 5300's in a few vehicles, already have the KFDTool and a bunch of 5100's.

EF JOHNSON 5100 ES UHF QUESTION..?

Ebay seller "bluemax49ers" sells excellent and reasonably priced programming cables. I have his FTDI USB-Serial cable for programming my EFJ's. Works flawlessly, not only on Windows but on MacOS with PCConfigure running in a VM.

EF Johnson sl5100 Programming for Win 10?

The latest version of PCConfigure works just fine on Win10. I have used it under VirtualBox on a Mac, with a USB-serial cable sourced from ebay. Flawless. Edit: Used with 5100ES, on 6.16.x firmware. No experience with other versions.

    NYC CW on GMRS

CW isn't illegal on GMRS, though it's incredibly rude to blast it over someone's voice conversation. Probably someone plugged a radio up to fldigi and is mucking about...

    XPR 7550E for DMR question

There are various ways to download a DMR ID list, and filter by region, but they seem to be flat text files targeted toward the prevalent amateur radios. I don't know that the M radios are able to import flat text files...I suspect you'd be doing the data entry by hand. radioid.net is the...

    XPR 7550E for DMR question

I don't currently own or use an XPR7550E, but it was M's flagship commercial DMR offering. For amateur use, it's missing a bunch of nice things like callsign/location, front panel programming (yeah, there is something like that available but I've never used it) and the lower number of contacts...

    EFJ-5100ES Keyloading w/KFDtool

Today the final piece of my puzzle arrived... now I've got my KFDtool, hirose cable, and NTN8613C adaptor. Next, warm up the soldering iron and mod the adaptor. Thanks again, KJ4RVE!

    EF Johnson VHF FPP

It appears (based on my PC Configure manual, section 11, pg 276. PDF found online somewhere and covers version 6.x, file format 5.10) that the "TX Type Sel" option is available, if the channel you wish to use FPP on is programmed as mixed mode. If it's not specifically set to mixed mode, only...

    EF Johnson VHF FPP

I haven't plugged any of my 5100's in recently, but don't they always power cycle on read and write? Mine are UHF 5100ES on firmware 6.16.04 though... I use an aftermarket ebay cable with an FTDI USB-serial chipset.

    Dummy loads

I noticed the 45W radio can only go down to 20W... I honestly just got the 25W in my hands and have not read it yet. Swapping seems to be the way to go, thank you. As for putting an HT antenna on the RX radio and dummy load on the TX radio, what will that do for me? I have a Sinclair duplexer...

Thanks, that's about as far as I want it to get out, until I've got a solid configuration nailed down.

    Dummy loads

I'm in the middle of transitioning my megaspot (STM32DVM + Tait TM8105 VHF transceiver) to a homebrew repeater setup using two UHF Motorola CDM's... a 40W CDM750 for the TX radio, and a 25W CDM1550 for RX. For testing purposes, I'm setting the power as low as possible, and plan to put a dummy...

Icom: New D-STAR handheld: Icom ID-52A/E

Looks nice, I would love to see some comparisons to the Kenwood TH-D74a. I'm eventually going to add a D-STAR handheld to my roster, as I work toward collecting one (or more) of each digital mode.
