    Baofeng BTech UV50x2 Transmit

Update: That doesn't seem to work with this radio. It definitely changes the offset, but still transmits on simplex. It looks like I can change the offset to a minus and ~316.000mhz range... landing above 144.000 mhz. I think I'll just remove the out of band receive frequencies, so I the...

    Baofeng BTech UV50x2 Transmit

Hi. I purchased a Btech UV50x2 radio from my local amateur radio club. It is a used radio from the auction of a deceased Ham's estate. I would like to place some out of band frequencies for receiving purposes only. When I program such a frequency, I cannot find a way to program it to not...

Adding a Memory to Chirp Software

I am having a problem adding another memory channel to Chirp. My radio is a Quansheng K-6. I would like to add a couple more frequencies, but cannot for the life of me figure out how to add anymore lines. I've been tried every way I can think of but cannot get anymore slots to add channels...

Unication G5 staying on TG after dispatch

I don't have my PPS with me, but there is a selection in the PPS under the knob you wish to change. I believe it's called Manual Reset. Pressing the top side button will reset the pager like you are wanting.

Digital or analog scanner in Augusta and Rockingham county

I live in Spring Creek. Hi neighbor:). Depending on what part of Mt. Solon you're in, you may be fine without an external antenna for Harrisonburg/ Rockingham. And I would assume that once Augusta has theirs built, you'll be good there, too. I have a friend that lives on Community Center RD...

Digital or analog scanner in Augusta and Rockingham county

A little edit from my above post. If you’re wanting to monitor both Augusta and Rockingham at the same time, you would definitely need a scanner and not a Unication. Unfortunately, Unication pagers are limited to one system at a time. I agree that SDS scanners will be your best bet. A 436/...

Digital or analog scanner in Augusta and Rockingham county

It depends. Approximately where are you located? Grottoes? Bridgewater? I would try it without an external antenna, just to get a baseline and then buy an antenna if you need one. The SDS scanners and Unication G4 and G5 work well on Harrisonburg/ Rockingham’s. I would give the Uniden...

    Paging Question Over TRS

I am programming a Harris P25 system and want to make sure I am programming the paging talkgroup the best way on G4 and G5's. I currently have been programming the paging TG as two channels for two tone alerting but if I could free up a knob position, that would be great. One knob is in the...

    Unication Changing Model Number Question

I am trying to program a G5 with UHF split. The program file I am copying is from a G4. How do I convert the file to let the PPS accept the UHF channels? I am using 3.16 PPS. Thanks.

    Programming G4 for multi-site system

One additional thing I do for systems is create a Site Wildcard (FF/ FF). The pager will “search” for a new control channel matching the system’s ID if it is unable to find a control channel. Certainly helpful in large statewide systems, as well as if a new control channel is ever added to the...

Issues with systems coming back in range after using PPS V4

I noticed this problem once before I read this thread and could not figure out why it happened. I've been able to duplicate it several times since then, by removing the antenna to lose the site. I have firmware 1.33 and my G5 (vhf) was programmed with v4. I reprogrammed it with v3 and I...

Thanks. I’ll do the same. It appears at times, I’m having the same issue as the original poster.

Issues with systems coming back in range after using PPS V4

Have you seen any improvement or found a solution? I just read through your thread, and I am not around my PPS, but this got me thinking. Isn't there a box to select for "Multi Site Trunking", or something similar, in one of the tabs? I remember reading this should be left unchecked. I...

Need help. Can't hear Virginia State Police

Are the signal bars at the top right of the screen and the DAT on the left, indicating that it is Trunking STARS? Honestly it sounds like you know what you’re doing and you’ve got it right, I’m not sure what it might be. I think you said you’ve tried different antennas- have you switched locations?

Need help. Can't hear Virginia State Police

A couple of questions. Do you have your Favorites List enabled for location control? Is Full Database turned to Off? I would turn FDB off. If you are scanning by location controlled (either FL or Full Database), I would turn the range from 50 down closer to 0. In most locations (Tidewater...

Need help. Can't hear Virginia State Police

I would stay away from the conventional stuff for state police- at least until you get things working, and make sure you are using this STARS: Virginia Statewide Agencies Radio System (STARS) Trunking System, Statewide, Virginia. I would program all VSP Div 5 (Chesapeake) talk groups. This...

Need help. Can't hear Virginia State Police

Just to clarify a couple of things, are you attempting to listen to VSP on the STARS trunked radio system? Also, are you programming the radio with the Sentinel software? STARS is not encrypted now, however it sounds like they are in the process of encrypting very soon. Welcome to the...
