    240V transformer

What's the highest temp then I can use on circuit boards without damaging stuff? What would I need for soldering/welding radials for an antenna?? I'm a driver and I've seen loads locks laying around that drivers have left or forgot and I've thought about using them as ground radials for a...

How Many Keep Scanners on 24/7?

Nope, guess maybe I'm afraid it's too hard on equipment or it will start a fire when I'm away. Wow, 6 or 7 years and still doing fine.

    Squelch Setting

Tried it. If I start with the squelch wide open and move it the amount of my site noise, it's still less than how much I have to close the squelch though. If that makes sense.

    Squelch Setting

Yes those are good things to take into account. Maybe it is just local interference. I'm going to try different radios and antennas and see how they perform. A more sensitive receiver would be more sensitive to interference but if it has good selectivity then I guess it wouldn't matter. Don't...

    240V transformer

Then again I guess the 240V maybe doesn't have to do with power output with amps either, like SlicerWizard was saying.

    240V transformer

Hmmm. Looks like I'm gonna have more stuff to add to my shopping list. Those Hakkos do look nice. Alright. I'll take a look for them.

    Squelch Setting

Always have to have my squelch halfway to more than halfway otherwise she won't scan. I miss transmissions having the squelch so closed. Any idea how to alieviate this, anyone have the same problem before?? Maybe it's just the radio, doesn't light up as well as it should either I was told.

    240V transformer

Haha. Thought maybe some amps might use them. I was thinking of building a simple dual band antenna but read that the S0-239s go on better with higher heat. They're the kind with a flat metal back to go on radios and stuff, not coaxial. Yep, thought I saw one that was 240V on amazon and...

    240V transformer

Does anyone use a 240V outlet or transformer for radio/electronics applications? I read that somtimes you need to use a high heat wattage soldering iron. 120Vs won't cover it for one of those??

The Best Power Strips for All Your Stupid Power Bricks

Had those in mind too, look like they could be nifty and convenient. Good the know how to do it the way you have them now though. Hmm that didn't really post too well.

    Binding posts and bannana connectors.

Hmm, will have to try some stuff out when I get enough money scraped up.

The Best Power Strips for All Your Stupid Power Bricks

I'm using an MFJ switching power supply and haven't noticed any noise from it. Have bands that are dead quiet, somtimes, but the rest of the time it's due to QRM and QRN. How are you going to hook up all those scanners to the Astron PSU then?

    Binding posts and bannana connectors.

Installing at least two cb radios in my semi. I like to play around with them and test them. Have an SBE brute and a cobra 29 LTD classic in there right now. One radio is hooked up to binding posts, I could plug the other into the cigarette lighter but wondering if I can just use some more...

Odd Signal on 27.125 mHz (CB band Chanel 14)

Can't you use some type of radio direction finding to find the source? Oh wait only when the bands open, that would rule it out being local then.

    Question about Skip

Hmmm, interesting, I need to work on my understanding of decibels more. S6 S7s not bad.

    Question about Skip

With my cb mobile though I've only really heard bye bye bye dude.

    Question about Skip

That's impressive, 450 hp. Wonder if he did the modification himself. Doesn't sound like the mechanic type but you never know. How did you learn of that? I'm in Northern North Dakota so close to the same latitude as you but far east. Only gotten Hawaii once as well. I get other states. Has a...

    Question about Skip

All I ever really hear for skip is some dude on channel 2 or 6 that says a lot of mumbo jumbo and then bye bye bye a lot. I would think if your not putting out enough power your signal would loose energy to clouds and the ionosphere making it harder to be recieved. Not sure how much energy an...
