Hi Dan, You could bring a scanner. Theres still plenty to listen to. You may want to preference something and a stream cant generally do that. You will need a Phase 2 scanner thouugh. Fire Rescue NSW went to Phase 2 talkgroups last week so more will go soon. Cheers Matt

Rob, For starters Wollondilly (Now Southern Highlands) is not on any PMR(conventional channel). They are GRN only. The 462mhz frequencies are long gone. Each area (Team/Zone) has their own PMR 'channel' or GRN 'Talkgroup', however with the rise of centralised dispatch you'll hear multiple areas...

I do all the time never an issue. Just explain yourself and all is ok. Mind you im also a licenced amateur so i dont tend to cop too much once they see my licence. Cheers

If you have a Uniden scanner just use close call and that should get it. I doubt they'd be using P25 for road works, Motorola also build DMR and analog radios too. Cheers

The upgrade is simple as use the FWTool put version 4.5 CPU in it. Upgrade the DSP to 3.0 and run the WS1080 ez scan. Download your old scanner files into the 1080 ez scan and your set. Done both my 800's in under 5 minutes a unit. Pleased to say the digital decode is better and the DMR decode...

It's working well just searching for NXDN signsls here in Australia. Need to find some frequencies to set up a trunked system.

Look up the RMR system and go from there, good luck though i suspect encryption will be straight off the bat when they move.

Hi, They have encrypted in some rural areas already with more to come. Basically anything surrounding Sydney is now encrypted. 1. The police have their own PMR radio network so they don't rely on the GRN. Much the same for all the other emergency serivces in non-GRN areas. 2. Very easily...

Hi all, Zone 3 is Clear UHF, Zone 4 is Encrypted UHF. All cars that went on the 18/12 on whiskey went from Z3 to Z4. Cheers
