    TAE6062B 5 Db UHF mobile

I just read back through the thread & I’m uncertain whether you want/need the antenna or just the document packet. I have only the antenna & never have had any documentation. If the antenna only is acceptable, I’m sure we can do business.

    TAE6062B 5 Db UHF mobile

Here’s a couple of pictures to confirm this is the item as I couldn’t find any identifying marks. The closest photo shows a small flaw in the base.

    TAE6062B 5 Db UHF mobile

Think I may have what you’re looking for in my garage collection of radio stuff. Going to the area hamfest tomorrow so I can’t check until Saturday afternoon.

    Big Boy

When 844 visited OK in 2007 for the state centennial, I found them on the UP road channels for whatever sub they were occupying. All you should need to know is where they are coming from to be able to identify which sub they are on for that segment. Here's a link to find 4014 on its current...

What is the feasibility of using an HT for a mobile unit with an amplifier?

Mark me down in this status as a new ham in the early 90s: Kenwood TH-215 and an RF Concepts amplifier, both of which I still have, BTW. The 5/8 wave Larsen antenna of similar vintage is attached to an NMO on my truck and works fabulously with an ICOM LMR programmed for 2-meters. For the OP...

    Kenwood: TM-281 programming?

Your sequence is what is I was referring to in my Post #8. I will do it this week after I make arrangements to stop by the gentleman's apartment. I've also re-read the online manual and now see where the tone is activated in the programming sequence.

    Kenwood: TM-281 programming?

Ok, it’s a “fine” manual & it does state exactly as you write (working from memory here) yet there is no step to turn on the tone function in the memory. Just entering Tone data in the memory does not turn on the function. I followed the steps on page 29 with information for a local repeater...

    Kenwood: TM-281 programming?

Did exactly that and it does save those parameters with the keystrokes you state. What is missing is a step while in VFO mode to switch on the Tone function. From your input and on thinking about it a little, I’ll go visit him again this week to try something that I don’t recall being in the...

    Kenwood: TM-281 programming?

Good points on assistive technology but I don’t get where you think I bought the radio. The ham’s son-sin-law bought it for him after his previous radio of 1980’s vintage quit working. The SIL contacted me because my name was on the club website.

    Kenwood: TM-281 programming?

Your recommendation is exactly how the manual has you set up a memory location and then acts like it’s not there when that memory is selected. The only way I was able to get the “T” indicator on the screen is to activate it manually with the “F” the “Tone” keystrokes.

    Kenwood: TM-281 programming?

I’m assisting a 98-year-young ham with his new radio & part of the programming has stumped me. The ham is legally blind so using the controls is difficult. His preferred local repeater doesn’t use PL and was easy to program once I deciphered the key sequence. His son-in-law thought it would be...

    Okmulgee County Systems

Good work in sleuthing all that out. Is it just me or does all that make a huge waste of a lot of RF spectrum for not a lot of traffic? Asking for a friend...

    Mexican railroad radios

I've seen FerroMex power at the West Cherokee Yard hump in Tulsa so it does get out on the US rail system quite a ways.

Looking For A Base Antenna For 39.3 - 39.6 Range

If you can find one at an army surplus store or hamfest, the old military RC-292 ground plane worked, with adjustments, from 30 - 80 MHz.

What radio is attached to the handset on the passenger seat? The handset looks like it's from a military backpack radio.

    VANITY call sign

I was a long-time Technician with this call from the beginning in 1991. I upgraded my license class twice in recent years, primarily to become a VE and also with the thought of getting a 2x1 or 1x2 vanity call. I wanted to stick with my zone of residence so that limited my choices. The more I...

    Scanner Antennas

I just did a quick search on HRO and showed they carry 10 different ones with varying frequency coverages, with/without coax cable, size, # of elements, etc. One of those will likely work for you after you determine your desired frequency range, features, and budget. Just remember that a discone...

    Repeaters

The technical name for operating an open repeater with no tone-code is COS - Carrier Operated Squelch, meaning exactly as stated in the answer above that any carrier on that frequency will be repeated. The technical name for using a tone code to open a repeater is CTCSS - Continuous Tone Coded...

    DTRS v. VHF-Hi County listings

Travel plans this summer include about a week at an RV park in La Veta (Huerfano County) so I was looking at the trunked listings and the county listing in the database. I see that most agencies have both DTRS allocations and their VHF-Hi frequencies. I'm wondering if the agencies have totally...

    2 antennas to 1 scanner?

I did a similar thing with good results back in the 70s in a mobile setting. I had one low band Antenna Specialists loaded 1/4-wave for the Oklahoma Highway Patrol and one VHF-Hi A/S 5/8-wave for the area PDs and SOs. Everything was PL-259 based. I still have both of those antennas but not in...
