Calls - Listening via Individual Nodes no longer available

Why would a fire tactical channel localized to a single department be playing on a node 250 miles away? That’s precisely why I’d choose to monitor a single node versus a systemwide live playlist. The tunnel vision answers provided here are astonishing. You had customers that preferred the...

Calls - Listening via Individual Nodes no longer available

When seeking information from the specific geography of a specific node, it allowed the user to intentionally listen to AVOID calls from non-relevant talk groups. Does that make sense? The beauty of the way it once worked was you had a very specific region with which to focus your listening...

Calls - Listening via Individual Nodes no longer available

Look you’re right, major fail was a poor word choice, and I didn’t fully appreciate how sensitive some would be to that. The pushback to losing nodes access should be noteworthy to how users really enjoyed the calls system. It’s just really unfortunate how the best features of these products...

Calls - Listening via Individual Nodes no longer available

TGs you found from the threads. But look deeper at those threads and see who was first researching where to find those talk groups. 🤦‍♂️

Now it reads as if you saw obtuse in Shawshank and get that keyboard warrior dopamine joy from using it on your customers? Good work!

Apologies if my comment read as offensive. Never was the intention. That’s not how I roll.

Calls - Listening via Individual Nodes no longer available

Collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge was a perfect example of me, the out of towner, wanting to hear the whole node at 3:30 in the morning versus struggling to build playlists to figure out which channels they were on. A major fail.

    MARCS Performance Audit

If that's the case, then why such animosity between agencies and differing systems? If my fire department can have access specifically for mutual aid, why do system admins make it seem as if it's the end of the world to have to work with a neighboring, but different system?

    MARCS Performance Audit

I’ve always been fascinated by that. Say hypothetically I’m Garfield Fire, I need to pay MARCS to access their network so I can provide mutual aid to Maple Fire? Shouldn’t Maple just operate on my network 🤣?

    MARCS Performance Audit

Wouldn't that actually mean the user agency has to pay both radio system providers?

    Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad

It’s the DHS Federal Security Director for this region brainwashing CVSR management and board that they’re under the jurisdiction of TSA. It comes up all the time in their spiels and meetings with employees, volunteers and “partners.” Which is amazing because if there ever were a critical...

    Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad

I suspect they maintain eligibility under a rare DHS railroad safety section that allows them to "contribute materially to homeland security," allowing them MARCS access. Common sense wise, sure, they're transporting hundreds of guests each trip, and should have direct access to first responders.

    MARCS Performance Audit

Coverage/lack of coverage is a major issue with MARCS. Why should a local agency pay high overhead costs, high subscriber fees, and put up with poor coverage areas? DAS' first instinct when you bring up a coverage issue to them is to deny, then deflect, then beg for more money and manpower.
