Are you saying Pinellas and Hillsborough are in the process of going 'E'?

Tampa Bay - Getting Back Into Scanning

Most of Pinellas, Manatee, Polk, & Hillsborough are in the clear and have been for a while. Pasco is completely encrypted. An alternative to the SDSs is a Unication or SDR.

    Orange County system issues

It's still concerning as this could be an intentional tactic to thwart our Unications from monitoring.

    Delay to to resume scanning?

No, I think it's that not having a delay causes you to miss transmissions because you may not hear replies of what you're listening to. And it's not the control channel we're trying to stay on longer, it's the TG (or maybe conventional frequency if not trunking).

    Delay to to resume scanning?

Unfortunately, the Unications have never had a scan delay. I've always wished for this. Once a transmission ends, it's off to the next transmission. In 3, 2, 1, ... someone's gonna tell you "it's not a scanner". That's because it was meant to be a pager for FD use and is really meant to stay...

    Where does the newbie begin?

Avoid Cheap Chinese Radios (CCRs) like Baofeng which are resented by many. They are poor quality and may cause interference. Stick with the more established brands (Alinco, Kenwood, Yaesu, Icom).

    Orange County system issues

So am I reading this right? The Unications won't work on Orange County because of a non-standard band plan?

    Can't Narrow it Down

Communication receivers usually don't do trunking, which is important if you wanna monitor local emergency services.

Ah, much better. I miss those Realistic Hypersscans. God those things were fast, back in the good 'ole days when conventional analog was the sh*t.

    Pinellas County Question

Compared to years ago on the fire channels, yes. There is far less radio traffic now as they're using MDTs for things that used to be verbalized over-the-air. Instead of fire tac channel radio operators announcing pre-arrival information, like vehicle descriptions, location details, patient...

    Programming All The NIFOG Channels

I want to program a Unication G5 and Uniden BCD996P2 with everything NIFOG. So I see the RR database has a nice complete list National Interoperability (United States) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference . But my question is, what NAC & TGIDs should be used? Or is there a way to...

Hillsborough County (EDACS and P25 32D.1E306)

Question about Tampa PD. They frequently patch the 2 sector TGs together within a district. For example, they'll take Sector A and B TGs on District 1 and they'll patch 'em together. The dispatcher usually keys up and announces this to everyone as going "on combined". They do this quite...

My OP25 is showing 800 MHz frequencies in use on the East System. This isn't in the database:
