I have the dual band signal stick and it does fine on Wx and VHF/UHF airband. On the UHF airband I was hearing AR on 274.450 with the signal stick on my IC-R2 and it was great receive. Seems just as good as the SRH77CA in that regard. (The signal stick does do a little better, maybe, with APRS...

Not to digress the thread, but I rely on the NOAA Wx freqs. When I can hear Weather Radio Canada in the summer...I know there's a good chance for VHF prop.

Thinking about filters a little more here: so right now the AOR is singing away on 260.900 MHz AM, hearing a decent amount of mil air traffic. Meanwhile the BCT15X is silent and just keeps on scanning past the 260.900 MHz channel. The AOR uses no filters. The BCT15X only has a Mini Circuits...

Just be aware a non-U.S. unit could have receive gaps that block valid U.S. frequencies.

Nowadays I wouldn't expect any revolutionary sensitivity gains across modern quality radios of the same class. Although it seems inexcusably bad design causes shift the other way in some models 😃

My bad, I was thinking of my digital BCD396XT, where I do set the modulation to analog as opposed to auto where it wastes time trying to figure it out. The 15X is analog only and therefore no auto.

There were some not good reviews of the new Unidens. I think it was deafness and lots of squelch breaks...?

Yes, thanks, I learned that a long while ago. I never use the Auto setting for any channel.

The big three channels here are 3, 5, and 8. I'll look into it. If I were to use both filters, would this ordering make sense? Ant -> FM band stop -> 225 bandpass -> 15X

No ATT ever, and yes HI Mike I have the ZBSF-95-N+ FM trap. Ironically, the trap allows me to hear MORE since I added it to the 15X a few years ago, once I realized I had an FM broadcast problem.

The BCT15X is my main mil air scanner. The AOR is permanently parked on 260.900 MHz. This morning there's a fair amount of traffic on that freq, so I paused the BCT15X also on 260.900 MHz. The BCT15X missed well over 70% of the traffic that the AOR heard. And the radios have similar squelch...

Same! Just got a few Signal Sticks and liking them a lot. I can already hit my local APRS digipeater better than with the SRH77CA.

I can't believe the D75 would be significantly better in that regard compared to the D74 or most other big 3 transceivers. After all, we're only talking about FM, D-STAR, and APRS.

What made you leery? Done properly, Cloud can provide availability and resiliency far beyond any locally owned physical installation, as long as the business case fits.

There's a column all the way to the right on the grid for ordering the frequencies. I seem to remember if you don't have a sequential set of numbers or duplicate a number, then ARC6 will bork the radio until you fix it.

You're right! Because there's lots of streams available online for listening to aerial refueling and SATCOM! Oh wait...
