BCD396T/BC996T: Scanner Is Still In CSQ On Digital Channels

Thanks for the info. I might be looking for another scanner, who wants to drive around with a bunch of frequencies in carrier squelch?

BCD396T/BC996T: Scanner Is Still In CSQ On Digital Channels

Thanks for everyone's input. It appears that if this scanner is programmed for digital, it's also going to suck in everything else. Pretty rare anymore to not have the ability to filter out the junk with PL/DPL on analog. Looks like Uniden was asleep when it came to designing the digital...

BCD396T/BC996T: Scanner Is Still In CSQ On Digital Channels

That is correct. I have selected Digital Only for the service in question. But that channel will receive the digital signal like it should. But it also is still in CSQ because any signal on that frequency is still heard.

BCD396T/BC996T: Scanner Is Still In CSQ On Digital Channels

In FreeScan, there is a column to select Audio Type. Choices are All, Digital Only, Analog Only. Maybe this menu selection doesn't program anything in the radio? With an analog channel, the choice of adding a PL or DPL code is available to eliminate distant non-desired signal reception...

BCD396T/BC996T: Scanner Is Still In CSQ On Digital Channels

I have this scanner installed as a mobile and programmed with area conventional digital channels. It's working OK except as I travel, there are some areas with high spurious signals that cause the channels programmed as Digital Only to stop with an open carrier. Is it normal for a Digital Only...

    BCD325P2/BCD996P2: Can't Receive 1 Out Of 3 Trunked Systems

The system is 99% in the clear as I constantly monitor traffic on OP25 and Osmocom. I'm set to ID scan and have all of the TGs for the 996 that I see coming across OP25. I really like the History Logging feature of ProScan and was hoping to utilize it on this system. However I have discovered...

    BCD325P2/BCD996P2: Can't Receive 1 Out Of 3 Trunked Systems

Was running 1.10.01 but just upgraded to 1.10.02 without improvement. Appears .02 addressed an issue with digital decode in the 171-173 MHz range. This system is at 857 MHz.

    BCD325P2/BCD996P2: Can't Receive 1 Out Of 3 Trunked Systems

It is a simulcast system but there are other users of the 996 and even the Home Patrol 2 that report good results on this system. I've only had the 996 for a few months and thought I was missing something in programming?

    BCD325P2/BCD996P2: Can't Receive 1 Out Of 3 Trunked Systems

I have 3 P25 Standard Trunk systems programmed and 2 of the 3 work fine. While scanning, the 2 systems that receive, will show full strength RSSI on the display as they are scanned by. The system I can't receive does not show any RSSI for the brief time that system is scanned past. However if...

I am not aware they are using encryption. I hear calls and the morning test page at 7:15 AM for Ft Madison and Keokuk. What are you using for a scanner? I have heard there is a business in Ft Madison selling scanners that may not work properly with Lee County's simulcast system. Your mileage...

    Asking for help

25 miles isn't a challenge when using a 11 element 850 MHz yagi. Both my OP25 setup and the BCD996P2 share the same antenna using a unity gain signal splitter. The 996P2 will lock onto the control channel and display system and sid parameters but refuses to receive any voice channel traffic...

    Asking for help

The BCD996P2 is not a good choice for Lee Co as they appear to be simulcasting from multiple towers. This type of operation makes it very difficult for most receivers to capture just one signal. I'm about 25 miles north of Lee Co using a 996P2. It doesn't work a majority of the time on Lee Co...

OP25 Mobile radio scanner based on OP25

Nice job! I'll be interested to see how the NooElec dongle handles cold mobile conditions this winter. I figured frequency stability would be a real issue until the vehicle interior warmed up. Keep us posted!

The Lee Co system appears to be a simulcast system with all towers potentially able to use any of the licensed frequencies. 855.2375, 855.7375, 856.4875 & 857.9875. The Keokuk tower could use any of these. I'm on the edge of their coverage area and waiting for a 850 MHz yagi to arrive.

OP25 OP25 Phase 1 How To Display Source Address UID

Running the latest boatbod version on a RPi and it works great for my local Phase 2 trunked 700 MHz system. But now I'm looking at using the same hardware for a dedicated single receiver for a single frequency P25 Phase 1 (legacy Motorola Astro) agency. I have receive audio working fine for...
