    Icom Multi-band

Oh trust me, I have more knowledge then I care to admit or share on here with Icom for various reasons. All I can say is Icom is going to get a wake up call if they want to continue in the P25 market.

    Icom Multi-band

I agree, Icom is lacking in the P25 world. But to compare them to BK in my opinion puts both in the same boat regardless if it worked or not. The company couldn't even get the FCC certifications right to market the product and took literally forever and many didn't even think it would happen...

    Icom Multi-band

It's coming, along with new P25 repeaters. FYI, there has been several firmware updates. As far as comparing it to BK, well, I worked 5 years after hearing about it and retired, then got hired part time because I was bored, then stopped for a few months, then started back again and BK STILL...

    Icom Multi-band

Maybe they are realizing they need to either up the game or get out of the game totally (at least in P25 offerings). We'll see if the support/technical services improve. Either way the competition in the market place is a wonderful thing for taxpayers!

    TP9900 Multiprotocol Multiband radio released

Makes sense. Having DMR and P25 in a multi-band radio is certainly a game changer for many. Something I am surprised Motorola hasn't gotten on board with which who knows may change.

    TP9900 Multiprotocol Multiband radio released

It's interesting why they didn't just market the TP9900 instead of having the TP9800 and TP9900. But they are great radios! Just need a good channel change public safety mic for FD's. Green of course LOL.

FCC to start investigating Amazon and others

THIS!!! Deal with this EVERYDAY. We have many VHF customers and it is nothing but trash band now with all the RFI.

    Considerations about linking GMRS repeaters.

Well it's the nincompoops who just want to make something legal that isn't, don't know the laws, and take their own personal opinions as to how it's regulated. Those people should stick to ham radio, as that's the intent of the spectrum. You're exactly right, it is the FCC fault especially if...

    Considerations about linking GMRS repeaters.

LOL. Well, I don't know about you but most of our UHF ham repeaters sit idle and just ID. You scan the 8 GMRS repeater pairs and it's like driving down the highway listening to the CB during the late 70's! Mine as well put the spectrum to good use!

    Considerations about linking GMRS repeaters.

How about we petition the FCC to give up some of that wasteland 70CM ham band to GMRS?? I'm all for that, what do you all think? Then we could have 100 repeater pairs and linking would not be an issue.

    Considerations about linking GMRS repeaters.

I agree. Don't believe everything you read. The problem with linking and the rulings are they don't jive. Like with monitoring before convo, impossible to do on a linked system and even spelled out on your reply email, sighting only 8 repeater pairs. I know MTS and myself and probably others...

    Considerations about linking GMRS repeaters.

Well well well... look at what the cat dragged in. I knew this would be the case. As the ol' saying goes, don't believe everything you read on the internet! Keyboard professionals galore. I knew trouble when posters had no idea of the basic rules of GMRS that are CLEARLY spelled out in the...

    Everything NYPD encryption.

You increase the intelligibility of the system throughout it's coverage area. RF doesn't magically go farther by going digital. If you have a dead spot you'll continue to have said dead spot.

    Considerations about linking GMRS repeaters.

So what exactly does it say?

    Considerations about linking GMRS repeaters.

It says that unless you’re covered under the family callsign that anyone else using or “sharing” the repeater needs written permission that needs to be filed.

    Considerations about linking GMRS repeaters.

Neither is reading the rules and finding it. People seem to know everything about GMRS but apparently have never read them.
