Funny/Odd things heard on the scanner

On my feed yesterday for unattended cooking: Fire officer: "Squad 1 to Dover, (street name) under control. Unattended turkey" Dispatch: "(street name) is under control, unattended turkey at (time)" you could tell dispatch did a second take with the gap in response.

What is the advantage of P25 over analog?

True, the advantage of the P25 system is huge, especially with multiple agencies and mutual aid. For example Delaware fire service had 4 county fire channels for its 3 counties. The primary was 33.78 for all stations except Dover and Wilmington as they had their own channels. A working fire in...

    Delay between scanner and broadcastify

My feed averages 30-45 seconds behind the scanner. It's always within 5 seconds between the scanner and the internal network port on my desktop (I use the http://XXX.XXX.233:5700/ port from my laptop browser to the desktop that uploads my feed.)

Can anyone help with a non functioning Pyramid Power Supply

Remove all traces of that brown glue. It was actually tan in color when new. As it is exposed to heat, it becomes conductive. I had a power supply in a SFF (small form factor) computer short out because of the glue.

New state of Delaware radio system

It has been a phase 2 system for years. FYI, most police channels and agencies are encrypted. Delaware is in the process of re-banding. See link here: https://www.radioreference.com/apps/db/?sid=411

    Outage 1/11/2018

Was this outage a result of the problems that also occurred on Jan 4? I had a banner at the top of my Scanner Radio App (android free version) "Broadcastify.com is currently experiencing server or network problems. Scanner feeds relayed by them (which is the majority of the ones in the...

    Ads

I am using Waterfox (a Firefox variant) with Ad Block Plus (and EasyList filter) and get no ads, whether I am logged in as a member or not logged in. This includes ads at the bottom of the page, below the Quick Reply buttons. My settings also clear browser cache and history after closing it. My...

    fredrica and Robbins hose rebroadcast

Both of those frequencies are in use, according to radioreference. I use the 154.445 for Dover Fire and 151.400 for Kent County on the scanner I use to upload. See the Kent County Fire and EMS feed on radioreference web site or on scanner radio app for smart phones. Be aware, Dover's 154.445...

    Dover Fire

Dover Fire doesn't release the address of an incident until the first-responding equipment goes responding. At dispatch, "Dover transmitting alarm at (time)" or "Dover transmitting working alarm at (time)" is the only thing heard after the tones. I have them and Kent Center on my feed. (Kent...

    Status Check

I believe the SOP is to check in on Fire/EMS every 20 minutes in Kent County. I do know an accountability check is done every 20 minutes on a working fire scene until situation is placed under control by officer in charge. Kent Center also checks in periodically on fire police that remain on...

    New Castle County "Squads"

Typically, rescue/rescue-pumpers are designated as -6. I was looking through Kent County's stations, there are some that are numbered other than -6. With that said, numbering is at the discretion of each fire company. I can tell you they were -6 in the early 80's through mid 90's as a standard.

    New Castle County "Squads"

With the adoption of 'plain language' vs 10-codes, a lot of companies are using descriptive names instead of the station-number system. For example, 45-6 may be announced as 'Rescue 45', although Kent Center will recognize it as 45-6 from it's radio ID on the P25 system.

    FM Broadcast - WDSD 94.7

I have lived in the Dover area for over 30 years and 94.7 is the single worst offender for bleed through for 5 miles. Their signal is so strong you can receive them clearly on a car radio with the antenna disconnected (analog tuner!!) Anybody attempting to tune near 94.7 or 105 get nothing other...

Funny/Odd things heard on the scanner

Delaware adopted plain language about 10 years ago for the fire/EMS services. Many of the old-timers are stuck in the ways ('10-4' instead of 'received'). I heard on my feed this morning: DispatchDover to engine 2. Engine 2Engine 2. DispatchMake a response to (street address) for a cat stuck...

    Txt alert, just a thought

I have my email setup and logged in on my cell phone's app. I get my notifications on 2 separate addresses. No texts. It has been that way since my feed was set up 4+ years ago.

Looking for Hurricane Matthew Dedicated coverage

If you're still interested in Hurricane Matthew coverage and you have a SiriusXM account, you can tune into continuous coverage as referenced in their blog: "As a public service, SiriusXM has teamed up with The Weather Channel to provide their live coverage on Sirius Ch. 184 and XM Ch. 1 until...

I wish Feed Owners would check their feeds for any problems

I must be on the other end of the spectrum in monitoring my feed. As a former member in the fire service, I listen to it on a daily basis either live from the PC speakers or through Scanner Radio app on my phone. My wife was also active in the EMS sector until she was involved in an accident...

    Dover Fire

I carry Dover Fire as well as Kent County Fire/Ems on my RR feed. (refer to 'Kent County Fire/EMS'). I currently have only 1 scanner to upload the audio from both sources. The scanner is an old PRO-405 that doesn't follow trunking. I follow Kent Center on 151.400 and Robbins Hose (Dover) on 154.445.
