    XTL2500 UCM

Oof, my mistake on that. Sorry. I was using it more of an example of the shield. Just search ebay for PHLN6918C, and you should find one. Sorry about that!

    XTL2500 UCM

The XTL needs a crypto carrier board, which the UCM mounts to. The whole assembly mounts on the front of the brick under the TIB (if remote) or headbridge (if dash) The board should have a metal shield like this one: Motorola HLN6876B Crypto Carrier Board for XTL5000 W series heads ONLY |...

    BKR9000 Emergency Signaling Options Help

I see zeros under both polite and impolite. Could that be causing it not to transmit?

    WTVD Chopper encrypted

I drew a comparison between this event and our own system. You quoted my post saying ours was encrypted, then said “it is NOT encrypted.” Lol.

    WTVD Chopper encrypted

Are you monitoring our NXDN system in Los Angeles from Raleigh? Welp, I better make a phone call. It should be encrypted. Someone might’ve turned it off.

    WTVD Chopper encrypted

Par for the course nowadays. We encrypted our chopper talkgroup here in LA after our system was published to the RR database.

    450.225 IFB

You might hearing a remote feed from a TV trailer. They'll patch the intercom feed to a mobile radio mounted in the rack of the truck. The parabolic mic guys carry 2-way radios to hear the director / A1 during a game. Were there any professional sports events around the time you heard it?

You won't see us however you must know we are here

I was supposed to be out in Panamint Springs a few years ago for some planespotting, but ended up not going. Well guess what made a low pass over the valley that day? Ugh. F-117 Nighthawks Caught Roaring Through A Canyon In Awesome Images

    Watch Duty Wildfire Reporting App

My parents introduced me to the app when I was visiting them in Oregon. It was invaluable for keeping them apprised of any evacs, as well as painting an overall picture of the fire's behavior. I can't believe I hadn't heard about it until this past Summer. I was absolutely blown away by the...

Parrot on 462.5875 with CWID that's also piping through scanner audio

My guess is someone set up a simplex repeater for their kid, and forgot to turn off scan on the radio they connected it to.

    Encrypted subcode?

I like the single channel LTR idea! You could find a Zetron 38A repeater controller and do the following: Turn on the anti-kerchunking filter so they can't hunt for the new PL Set a different PL/DPL tone for the input, but keep the existing output PL/DPL Enable "reserved user" on the panel...

    TV Stations IFB

Yeah, I've been here for a decade and still don't know how we have our system set up. I believe we turned encryption on for the chopper talkgroup, but again, I'm out of the loop. KCBS is a pain to monitor sometimes as they use transmitter steering via SNV-12s, so the tower sites hop around...

    TV Stations IFB

With bonded cellular, it's even worse now. 3, up to 10 second delays now! It's always a treat for me as a director when the reporter is on microwave.

    TV Stations IFB

Here in LA, all stations maintain a backup UHF IFB system which transmits our off-air audio 24/7. IFB comes to the talent in the field several different ways: NTSC PRO channel - legacy analog audio channel that regular viewers don't hear on their home set. Audio received by special receiver...
