Gordon helped to sort this out. I was using icecast to stream a .ogg file. RR works with .mp3. I replaced icecast with darkice, removed the slash from mount point and Hey Presto - it works. I now have CentOS 5.5 streaming my scanner using darkice 1.0-1 installed from .rpm found at ATrpms. Sweet.
