    Ham Radio Crash

I still watch it from time to time if there is a topic that interests me. He can't run all his shenanigans on HN like he does in his own channel. So I find it bearable to watch if I feel the need. Oh yeah, I tried to give the podcast a listen too because same as you the topic (I thought was...

    Ham Radio Crash

Funny you should mention the memes....Like I stated earlier, I have engaged with him in "well-known" ham radio forum in the past and critiqued his content...apparently I got under his skin. A few weeks ago a fellow ham who watches a lot of his content informed me he had created the below meme...

Why do you all enjoy using DMR?

Yeah…they say BoJunks are hard to program too….so is there a another group of old timers that find BoFenging a challenge? Can’t wait for them to chime in….I am sure that would be more than mildly amusing.

Why do you all enjoy using DMR?

@belvdr I hear ya. VHF/UHF is some what active in my area. I am just guilty of not getting on those bands as much as I should. Too be honest, I recently took a little hiatus from ham radio all together and just now getting back in the shack. I get it, talking into reflectors can break the...

Why do you all enjoy using DMR?

Sorry to hear that….lots of folks do. Check out my “little pistol” 100 watt (if that) station if you don’t believe it can be done. (*Edit after seeing your edit)…..Roger that, I have nothing for you if you then if you don’t like the maintenance or the look of outdoor antennas. Have fun on the...

Why do you all enjoy using DMR?

With just a little effort, a General license and a simple wire in your attic you can work the world….no internet required. ;)

Why do you all enjoy using DMR?

Yeah, but that would actually require some effort..like having to study, learn and earn something. These days, that’s asking too much OM.

Why do you all enjoy using DMR?

Yes you are correct. I should have been more specific…as in your are not talking to anyone in Japan on DMR unless it‘s thru the internet. Repeaters serve a good purpose and a DMR repeater is no different when it comes to “local” traffic. But you must admit the draw for “most“ towards DMR is...

Why do you all enjoy using DMR?

I agree there is zero challenge in DMR communications, it’s mostly just something to play with that sounds different and cool to some hams. I talk on a P-25 system at work everyday so for me speaking and hearing digital comms is nothing I find new or cool. With that said, my club has a DMR...

    Ham Radio Crash

IMO, the award is the League‘s way of trying to be hip and hang with the “cool” kids by latching on to the guy’s success. Is what it is….like I said these guys like to hear themselves talk more than actually operate. What is sad is when some of them actually do get on the air, you can tell...

    Ham Radio Crash

Like others, I could care less for the livestream nonsense and the stupid banter on the live chat that goes on, so I simply fast forward the video to the content I am interested in and then X out. I also prefer those that actually “operate radio” instead of just talking about operating radio on...

FCC NPRM MD Docket No. 20-270 changing FCC fee structure, including Amateur Radio. $50 for new licenses and renewals and Vanity License Applications

All they have to do is drop three whole dollars and fifty cents in a piggy bank once a year for ten years and they got ticket money....not to mention if $35 dollars is such a hardship....then what the heck do they expect to transmit with? Two cups and a string........

Ham Radio Is It Worth It?

What is even funnier is how long it is taking for folks to realize they are being trolled by this guy.....

Talking Over The Internet Isn't REAL Ham Radio.

    This should be interesting......

    Technician privileges

Yeah...but what does any of this have to do with Technicians being allowed on 80, 40 and15 meter phone...........?

    Technician privileges

Not discouraged at all over here. I belong to good club and have had the good fortune to have been elmered by many well intentioned old timers. Heck, in most instances I‘d rather hang out and get along better with the older generation then my own generation. Too much BS going on with my...

Kenwood TM-D710GA vs Yaesu FTM-400XDR for DMR

^ What he said. Or be willing to invest in one of these openSPOT3 – SharkRF ,which would allow you to do various digital modes, (including DMR) with the FTM-400XDR. However it will not work with the TM-D710GA, because it is an analog only radio.
