    I would consider borrowing a radio and try it before you decide on what you are going to purchase. You are going get a lot people telling what they like but it may not be your thing. It will also depend on your area. Some modes are more popular in one area compared to another.

    I found a Radio Shack Store in Sitka Alaska that is open. The Radio Shack Sign is on the building. The store sell electronics not any with the brand name on it. I saw the store about a month ago when I was there on a vacation cruise.

    going going gone The only thing I liked about having a local RS was to save me time if I needed something in a crunch. There two electronic Store here that carried the stuff Radio Shack used to. I really do not miss them anymore.
