SDS100/SDS200: SDS100/200 slight delay in audio compared to BCD325P2 (in relation to a Unication G5 pager)

The slight delay when listening at the same time to the same traffic on an SDS and non-SDS radio creates quite an interesting audio "echo" effect which is reminiscent of the old shortwave SAC broadcasts. Sounds very impressive to visitors at the shack. :giggle:

    FDNY - Heightened Situational Awareness

Sat April 13, 2024 @ 2030 Hours - FDNY has transmitted a Signal 65-2 alerting all units to observe a heightened situational awareness regarding any potential terrorist activity in the New York City area due to the current crises in the Middle East. There are no specific threats reported at this...

    SDS100/SDS200: Odd RSSI Display Issue

Strange, yes, but these anomalies at not unexpected. There are two issues which may or may not be related. And multiple faults are always a pain to track down. I would first see if you can install the older version of the firmware to see if the condition still exists. If not, I would suspect...

AR-DV1 How Is The AOR AR-DV1?

The DV1 has been around long enough that there is already a wealth of information without having to rehash it all. My short & sweet--- it's a great receiver for manually tuning the VHF and UHF spectrum. Offers as much digital modes as you can get from a "stock" receiver. It's just ok on...

SDS100/SDS200: Scan is skipping priority channel

Did you check to see that somehow that particular channel (or talk group) did not get locked out of your scanning sequence?

    Theft security for the SDS100

I wouldn't necessarily wear it on my belt and have it blaring out radio traffic and attracting a lot of unwanted attention. But belt clips must be popular for a reason--- it seems like a practical place to carry your radio. Add an earphone or a speaker-mike type device up around ear level with...

    SDS100/SDS200: SDS 200 loses signal

Although not probable, it is possible. The SD card is my first SDS200 was so wacky, I thought the radio was broken. Could not hear anything. Certainly worth a try.

AOR DV1 music on the AM air band

Rather than getting filters that may or may not work, you may have better results with a radio specifically designed for the aircraft band. Perhaps something like the Icom IC-A16B or similar unit, if it is available in your country.

Sentinel: Homepatrol-1 Sentinel "Insecure Download Blocked"

I would start looking at security defaults which are built into your new computer---- stuff like virus protectors and firewalls. Most of that stuff may be turned on by default and you may have to grant permission within those security programs for the Sentinel program to bypass that protection.

SDS100/SDS200: SDS Waterfall - Yea, Nay, or Meh?

The spectrum scope/waterfall functions are certainly much more useful on radios in which they were incorporated in their original design, like the Icom 8600 or (for ham radio operators) the Yaesu 991A. It seems that, while perhaps of some use, it is more of a "novelty" function in the Uniden...

    R8600 Shout-out to R8600 owners . . . how are you using yours?

The 8600 is a great piece of equipment for the advanced listener who likes to casually tune around and hunt for "exotic" activity. Its wide frequency coverage compliments its many great functions BUT remember, it does not do trunking. It has some scan and search functions, but my 8600 does not...

    Vintage FDNY Radio Dispatches

Some notes on those war year tapes-- it seemed that the FDNY had implemented the 10-code signals several years after I came on the job, or were in the process thereof. I'll try to do more research and find the old training manuals. I know that when units were called for alarms on the air and...

Don't deprive yourself of the pleasure and enjoyment of the hobby. Buy your SDS100 from a reputable dealer with a liberal return policy. I always recommend buying through Amazon.
