It turned out to be an issue with my scanner, I swapped it for another one I had and that one is working fine. Trying to figure out what happened with the scanner now...

Thanks all for the info. I went home and swapped the 996 for a 536 I had in my car and immediately started receiving the stuff I was missing with the 996, so I've got some more experimenting to do but right now it seems like I have a scanner issue...

I'll check. But I didn't turn it on, maybe it reset itself after the power outage.

I believe ATT was flashing off and on while the scanner was receiving, but I'll have to check that again.

I have another scanner I will hook up and try as well and see what happens.

That's cool. So I just put my Diamond X50 back on the roof and I swear I'm not hearing as much now as I was with the Motorola, haha./ It's fun to play around.

That’s funny, I don’t think I’ll end up leaving this thing on my roof because it’s been pretty bad on UHF, but honestly I was hearing things I’ve never heard before on VHF with it, even when comparing to my Diamond X50C. Must be just my particular situation combined with the 0 gain radiation...
