    Nextel i580 & Direct Talk

Nice antenna setup. I've only used the threaded-on fixed antenna setups on the I355. They worked on cruises when we were ashore. Legality of use - ??? No time spent in a Caribbean prison so far. What are you using for batteries?

    Nextel i580 & Direct Talk

The output from the NEXTEL phones on Direct Talk should be the same as on the now defunct Direct Connect. That is about 0.600 watts or 600 mw. The 902-928 ISM Band limit is 1 watt for spread spectrum.

    SENHAIX GT-12

Another one of the GT-12 owners was able to contact Senhaix and get a reply. Unfortunately, he was told that Senhaix was not going to offer firmware upgrades for the radio's in the field. Only new units sent to dealers would be upgraded. I'm suspecting that the GT-12 is a Grey market radio for...

Pickens Co approves new emergency radio system

So the dispatch talkgroups are in the clear? I might start looking for a SDS100. I noted in the other thread that the Easley site on Cleveland Street seemed to be complete last Saturday with antennas on the tower. Today, my ham radio was suffering from the RF images from that site while I was...

    Pickens County Upgrades

Looks like Six Mile FD has an FCC STA to keep using their repeater until the Nexedge system goes online. The Cleveland Street tower and building is complete. They are getting there.

    Clemson Fire/EMS upgrading radios

I don't think there is a Clemson City FD, only Clemson City Police Department. The city contracts with the University for fire protection. I looked up the lat/lon for the Clemson PAL800 site and I was surprised to see that it's about 1 1/2 mile NE from the stadium. So they probably have some low...

    Clemson Fire/EMS upgrading radios

So Clemson University Fire/Police is adding simulcast sites to their branch of the PAL800 system? They want Clemson city to come to the University system? Clemson city just needs Kenwood VP8000 handheld radios that work on UHF Nexedge and P25 800mhz systems. Expensive but effective!

Trouble hearing repeater on Tidradio but ok with Baofeng

It seems the Tidradio H8 and the Senhaix GT-12 both have problems decoding DTC or digital tone squelch. They both are bluetooth programmable and have similar capabilities although the GT-12 is an amateur radio. Maybe a problem inherit with the radio chip?

    SENHAIX GT-12

You are correct. Mine will open for about 1.5 sec, then mute for a second, then open up again for about 1.5 sec. I put the DPL tone repeaters on carrier squelch for now. Welcome to beta testing.

Choosing Simplex Frequencies in 2m and 70cm bands

As noted, hiding in plain sight is much easier on 222 mhz. There are a number of multi band handhelds available along with single band mobiles. You can get an HT and a mobile for less than $200.00. Not public safety standards but good enough to get started. There are three 222 mhz repeaters...

    Pickens County Upgrades

I was over in Easley last week and drove past the new listed tower site on Cleveland Street. The new building is complete and the tower is almost up.

    Baofeng BF-5RH GMRS

You need to set PL tone 67.0 in the Baofeng or send it back. Set PL 67.0 on whatever radio you end up with.

    Pickens County Upgrades

Six Mile FD's FCC radio license expired in March of 2023 and the application for temporary operation was rejected or withdrawn. I suspect that Fleetcom put Six Mile FD on their existing site on Six Mile mountain until the expanded county system goes live. I can't monitor them from my TR...

    SENHAIX GT-12

So the upgrade promised is not there or nothing was done. Could you go to the About Machine menu and post the Soft and Hard versions? Mine is an early one. Soft:Ver1.3.2C Hard:Ver1.00 Mine seems to be okay on bluetooth with IPHONE Problems noted: Scanning - channel scan does not work on all...
