    BC355N

I installed one in my truck last month. Excellent reception for railroad, and all local police. I went with an external speaker for better audio.

    Antenna Farm issues

I had ordered an antenna for my HP2. It was shipped in a small, paper envelope, and it arrived crushed and unusable. Getting them to replace it was futile. I’ll never buy from them again.

Tecsun Just Bought a Tecsun PL-330

I’ve had one for about a year. I keep it by the bed for times when I can’t sleep. I take it camping for evenings by the fire. It’s a great little receiver.

Introduction to ham radio for gray hairs?

I got my Technician license at 62, after wanting to pursue it since my teens. I studied online, taking sample tests for several weeks. Recently got my GMRS ticket also. I’m not very active, being a listener more than a talker. Go for it.

    Entry Level Reccomendations

The FT65R is a great analog radio. I’ve been using mine for 4 years. It’s always with me.

    Southwest Chief

I took that ride from Flagstaff to Chicago and back a few years ago. I had my scanner, and listened to the trains, and crew. Great trip. Enjoy!

I use my 125 daily. I don’t charge batteries in it, as I have a dedicated charger for that.

Amtrak Train Derails With Injuries In Missouri

I hope someone chimes in with scanner reports. I’ve been on that train, from Flagstaff to Chicago. Reports state it was traveling at 90 MPH when it impacted the dump truck, causing the entire train to derail and lay on it’s side. Truly a horrific event.

    BC125AT Railscanning.

Have you programmed the front of train and rear of train frequencies? Those should hit the scanner with a data burst when a train is close.

I get the defect detectors on the Phoenix Sub at 23.5 and 46.9. I’ve never heard a rebroadcast.

If money was not an issue, which NEW scanner would YOU buy and why.

Another vote for the Icom R-30. Everything around me is mostly analog, but future NXDN on railroad lights me up.

Why do you all enjoy using DMR?

I’m looking at DMR for my future. If it’s as difficult to program, it will surely keep the unlicensed idiots away.

    A painful net

I fear as the Fudds go silent, the amateur radio hobby will fade away. I hear too many idiots with CCR’s flooding local repeaters with obscenities, and foolishness. GMRS is also filled with jerks screaming “hello’s “. I recently put out my call sign, and was greeted with profanity. Sad times.
