    Rio Rancho - scanner questions.

APD had moved to their encrypted division dispatch TGs twice since they moved to the NM DTRS system. The first time was shortly after they fully moved to the system and it lasted two weeks if my memory serves me correctly. This time it may or may no be permanent...

    Rio Rancho - scanner questions.

Correct. ProVoice upgrade not needed to listen to the P25 systems. My suggestion is if you are going to get a SGS scanner to get the keys along with it. 73 es Dave

    Rio Rancho - scanner questions.

If you are looking for an actual scanner the Uniden SDS line will do it for you, keep in mind you will also need to purchase the ProVoice Upgrade Key. The other alternative is to use something like Unitrunker or SDRTrunk and RTL-SDR dongles, you'll need a computer to leave operating to go this...

New Mexico Mountain Top Radio Sites

You can use the GEOSEARCH on the FCC's ULS Advanced Search and enter coordinates (you can get them off Google Maps) for non-Federal government systems. Takes a little refining, but works pretty well. License Search - Advanced License Search Dave

    2018 Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta

Yes, the data on Radioreference.com is pretty accurate for Albuquerque and Bernalillo Country Public. Safety EDACS system. Additionally, the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta information is also accurate. Enjoy the Fiesta. I was out there myself this morning. Dave

Is it harder to monitor & pick up ABQ Dispatch/Cibola NFS for anybody else in NM?

Try 171.7500 for Albuquerque Zone, it is analog. Captured a number of frequencies in the VHF government range in the last couple of days. Some appear to be P25, but my BCD996XT didn't decode audio. It did get NAC codes. I'll provide a list if anyone is interested. To answer Bill's questions...

Is it harder to monitor & pick up ABQ Dispatch/Cibola NFS for anybody else in NM?

Hello All, I’m the RRPS & Cibola/SF Nat’l Forest feed provider. I too have noted the Cibola Nat’l Forest frequencies have gone mostly quiet. Last summer I noted that the Carson Nat’l Forest repeater system with the output on 169.175 MHz had gone quiet. What I found is...

I have channelized (left / right) my Rio Rancho DPS feed. Rio Rancho DPS is now on the left channel. On the right channel is the US Forest Service Cibola and Santa Fe National Forests. I plan to have this feed active during the spring and summer wildfire season, and will have the Air Attack...

    Fed UHF Unknown Freq Active

NAC of 293. Unlikely that this is a naval ship as Albuquerque is in the middle of the high semi-desert. Although there are naval units at Kirtland Air Force Base (KAFB) from time to time (I see FA-18s there almost monthly). Does not appear to be part of a trunking system, although this could...
