Yes sorry SITE trunk a few times. I have seen a complete failure once in my last 15 years and all riscon radios were out for about 15 minutes. It went out over intercity.

At one point they will probably re-label southwide 2 to RIMPA and encrypt it! ;)

I have not had the same experiences at all.

Aquidneck Island is about 90% on the state trunked system with 50% of that being encrypted. The rest of the state is about the same. Not to sure on Massachusetts systems. With the right radio (Unification g4 G5 you'll be good to go.

You need to be careful dealing with these members of society. These guys work Security for a local Security company so next time you feel Secure just remember....

Each individual dept has the option to join the system or not. You have equipment problems not reception.

Unication volume and bluetooth are its downfall.

Mine stopped working with multiple cables...so I sent it in for repair. They sent it back stating it was working fine and that all they had to do was have PPS read it on a computer. Its worth a shot to plug it into your programming computer and see if it will read BEFORE sending it in.

Sorry to say but the Home Patrol is junk on the RISCON system. The software is simply not up to par. You need to be at 98% decoded signal before you hear anything. Get a unification g4/g5 and be done with it.

Same 1 second delay of audio compared to my Homepatrol1. On talk group hold the audio is LIVE. Turn off hold and the audio is delayed a second or more.

Thank you I feel smarter. Last question ( I think ) why do department radios not need to be reprogrammed/updated but certain scanners (not all) do? Site ID locking? CC? Bad programming? I never had to touch my Homepatrol1 but I needed to reprogram the G5.

Ya,ya ya I deserve that! Adios site 2. WA1LAD maybe you can educate me on why they need to update site IDs when upgrading? Why can't the ID be kept the same? Something had to be added or taken away no? Was it just that new Charlestown tower? Is that a master site?
