Affordable and common magnet mounts on the market 2021 - your thoughts?

If I didn't already have too many antennas that work OK, the mag-mounted Sirio would be my choice. It's about as effective as a 108" quarter-wave and much handier.

    Whats a good AM/SSB mobile

I've been using a Wilson 1000 mag mount for many years with excellent results. It's very similar to the Wilson 5000 with the main exception being that it's not able to handle as many Watts; but that would be an issue only for the Channel 6 super boys. :-/

Affordable and common magnet mounts on the market 2021 - your thoughts?

That PROCOMM is impressive standing up to a big ole quarter-wave 108. One thing for sure: it has to be a lot easier to get around town with!

Different Wattage reading from ch1 to ch40

A Lil Will antenna competes well with other three-footers, but all of those shorties compromise the radio's signal to some degree due to the short length. It's often an exercise in frustration to try to get good SWR for the channel range between 1 and 40, and this naturally is true of the...

Do truckers still use CB Radios?

Many pro truckers still have and use CBs, but unlike yesteryear, today there are so many distractions via cell and satellites and etc. that it's become an as-needed-only tool. When there are big problems on the road, such as wrecks ahead, construction stoppages, black-ice hazards and other such...

    NMO mount antennas

As noted earlier, there is effectively no performance difference between a magnet-mount antenna and a hole-mount antenna. So, it's not the mount that matters; it's the antenna that matters, especially the length, everything else being equal. Some folks just can't stand the thought that...

Affordable and common magnet mounts on the market 2021 - your thoughts?

I regularly use three mag-mount antennas with several compact CB radios interchangeably. I mount each radio on a moveable block and so don't permanently mount any of them in a particular vehicle. So, the mag mounts are perfect matches to the radios. When I need a radio, I just grab one of...

Petitions for Reconsideration of Part 95 Personal Radio Services Rules Report and Order

Would an FM 11 meter CB band be less prone to skip interference compared with AM? Why? Would picket-fencing become a problem with FM on 11 meters?

Petitions for Reconsideration of Part 95 Personal Radio Services Rules Report and Order

Get 30 mile range with SSB - now Legal! The site above is interesting in regards to AM v FM transmissions. I appears that AM, especially when combined with SSB, has a lot of favorable characteristics.

New radio runs very hot, thoughts?

Quote: "... After 20 minutes or thereabouts of ratchet jawing, I measured the casing temperature and it was about 125F...." I wouldn't be surprised that my radio heats up to 125F with 20 minutes of ratchet jawing. The finals are getting a workout.

    Skip is very isolated

On my car's OEM AM radio I can point out a number of spots where an AM commercial radio station will be interrupted every time I get there by fading out or by excessive background static. The exact reasons for any of the particular spots I don't know, but I would guess it's a combination of the...

CB Mount Location Ideas for 2017 Ford F-250

That plate should provide the required support. Is it just the antenna mounting bolt assembly holding it into place, or does it require an adhesive as well?

Hall County, Texas, sheriff’s call for help on the CB radio to end high speed police pursuit

Yep, the ole CB lives on in the cabs of thousands of working drivers on America's highways. Even though it is often disparaged as the trash bin of frequencies, the 11 meter CB band is used innumerable times everyday by professional truckers as an aid to their productive activities. They do this...
