new Fobos SDR with USB 3.0 Interface from RigExpert

I see that you can't listen to .1 - 25 mhz at the same time as 25 - 6000 mhz. For me, that would be fine. But for some, it might be an issue to not be able to listen across the 25 mhz barrier (above and below 25 mhz at the same time).

new Fobos SDR with USB 3.0 Interface from RigExpert

That would be a bummer. With 50 mhz available at a time, it would be nice to split that up between applications. After all, people who might use it to monitor things like VHF or UHF or typical trunked systems don't need anywhere near 50 mhz for a single app, or they need 100 mhz, in the case...

new Fobos SDR with USB 3.0 Interface from RigExpert

14-bit ADC squashes the HackRF. Some Ettus stuff is higher than 14-bit, and of course significantly higher in price. If it turns out to be a decent SDR device after people get a chance to test it out, I'd say the price is pretty good.

new Fobos SDR with USB 3.0 Interface from RigExpert

Although it looks like a general purpose SDR, I suspect it was created specifically with things like CW Skimmer and such in mind - you know, the ability to monitor all HF ham bands at once to capture CW, RTTY, and or FT4/FT8 transmissions and ultimately list them as spots on a DX spotting...

    SIRN

Are you sure it's 2488 ? The Ohio Co Simulcast on BCFY Calls has not seen that TG ever. Granted, the Ohio Co Simulcast won't always hear all Marshall traffic. But still.

    SIRN

No idea. But they are always adding talkgroups to the system for some entity. Quite a few mentions of new talkgroups being added in just the Feb/Mar SIEC minutes alone. https://sirn.wv.gov/siec/2024siecminutes/Pages/default.aspx Should read through the SIEC minutes.

Washington County Public Safety - new trunked (YW) licenses

Amazing, but not surprising. I know nothing about the company that was going to build it out, but I questioned whether they could deliver after seeing their building lol. Good luck to WashCo. What a cluster they've managed to get themselves into. m

Columbiana County and Rogers Ohio trip

East Liverpool, Lisbon and East Palestine. If you are only going with one, go with East Liverpool. But Lisbon is a fairly active site too. If you can do all three, put all three in. All typical traffic is in-the-clear (police / fire / ems). But you'll find very little Columbiana Co Fire...

MARCS-IP ("New MARCS") Site and Talkgroup Discussion

It was a cut and paste of a typo. The only thing anyone cares about are the frequencies. And the links to the license apps are correct. I can't go back and edit Sheffield to Suffield now so it'll just have to stay as it is. Mike

American Electric Power (AEP) P25 WACN 92715

I doubt that they went ENC. And from what you say about it taking 2 minutes to sync, something is wrong. Probably weak signal or interference. Or maybe something needs done with the BTT (like a firmware update). No reason you shouldn't be able to reliably and consistently copy the...

    Ohio MARCS in Brown County

Keep in mind that at least one site was recently updated with new frequencies (Higginsport). If you monitor Higginsport you need to update your scanner with the latest info. Same with the Maysville / Aberdeen site...

    Yaesu: SCU-LAN10

Did you allow incoming connections in windows from 50000-50003 UDP ? Did you set up port forwarding on your firewall to port-forward 50000-50003 UDP on your WAN IP to 50000-50003 UDP on your PC that is running the software? Mike

    M17 Project - megathread

Not enough. All I could find was some audio sample of two Brits talking. Not nearly enough. One would think that a lot of audio samples and some sites with live audio would be one of the best ways to sell it. I guess you guys don't think so. I've been hearing about M17 for a couple of...

So after some sweet talk the wife gave me the go ahead on a new base!

If it were me I'd definitely go with the 710. The 991x would be handy having 2m/440 if you decided you wanted to take it out and about, or put it in your vehicle. But the 710 has significantly better receiver specs and can handle rejection of strong signals nearby the frequency you are...

    M17 Project - megathread

That's unfortunate. The first thing a potential adopter of the technology would like to do is to actually listen to some actual voice conversations happening in realtime to determine voice quality and such. Oh well.

    M17 Project - megathread

Is there any website that a person could visit to actually hear M17 in action in realtime? I visited the reflector link and see all the reflectors but do not see any option to actually listen in.

DSDPlus Is there a Con+ LSN Formula Similar to NEXEDGE?

Repeater maps aren't broadcast regularly, and sometimes never -- depending upon the system. And yes, if you are sitting on the CC and hear voice and it shows ch 4, you are correct that the control channel would be LSN 3/4 (aka LCN 2) So you have at least one. LSN 3/4 (LCN 2) = 454.2 LSN 5/6...
