    Blizzard in California

It’s only in the high mountains above 7000 feet. It’s very rural with low population density. I doubt there’s anything to monitor.

    ADSB Exchange SOLD

This is a good idea but may also turn away people who like to feed to multiple services. What we really need is a standard communication protocol between feed providers and services. I should be able to drop into a config file where to send info and some authentication information.

    Programming All The NIFOG Channels

They do load them, they just don’t use them because the current system works just fine. If my county fire comes into the city for mutual aid, they switch to city channel. If they go to the next county, they switch to theirs. If they all ran to VFIRE whatever, then dispatch is out of the loop and...

    Programming All The NIFOG Channels

Well that’s a whole set of different issues. Here out west where there’s less little kingdoms and such and more larger departments, there’s less of that. Here there’s state fire, county fire and city fire. If you run into the neighboring jurisdiction, you just switch to their channel and get to...

    Programming All The NIFOG Channels

That’s because a lot of agencies have been working together for a long time and already have plans in place on how to interop that just work and have been in place longer than NIFOG.

    Tulare Area CHP

Yep I heard them tell the dispatcher to switch back over earlier.

    Tulare Area CHP

There was some updates to CRIS involving Blue Ridge. Maybe they shut things down temporarily to install or tweak stuff or maybe CHP moved over to it?

    Fresno County public safety

As long as they are paid to. It’s still P25, which is still digital and modern, just not trunked. And all P25 capable equipment can also function in analog mode as well.

    Fresno County public safety

Even then you don’t have to go trunking. All my local police departments got p25 equipment years ago and stayed conventional.

    Fresno County public safety

Why would they? You usually switch to that when your radio traffic needs outrun your capabilities and that’s not going to happen for a long time.

    Radios for situational awareness?

For home: local police and fire For vehicles: state police and regional fire. I’m a truck driver and listen to CHP and fire departments in the area I’m driving through so I can be aware of accidents and vehicle fires on my route. They are fixed routes so I just turn areas on and off as I move...

Itinerant Business Freqs used for Public Safety

It think that unless any licensee can show documentation on actual usage of a frequency, they should be forced to give it up after a period.

    ICOM Multiband Portable

I think they realize that they can’t compete in the public safety sector so they target the commercial sector with affordable radios.

What is the best way to get into the backbone of system infrastructure and programming?

I’d say try and get a business administration degree, since some jobs want a degree for any management jobs.

Yep. They will challenge you and you’ll probably have to sue and make a judge decide if you’re a “qualified” journalist.

"I'm 10-98 Ocean Adam / Paul Ocean / Lincoln Nora" Disposition Codes...?

If you’re on Facebook, I’m sure there’s a local group that listens to scanners and could tell you. Each department has different codes so it’s hard to compare.
