EAMs happen multiple times per day, they are not unusual traffic, they are simultaneously transmitted from multiple locations around the World, so they are also heard around the World easily. The most common frequencies are 4724, 6739, 8992, 11175, 13200, and 15016 kHz, all USB mode (it is common for one transmission to be on all of those frequencies at the same time). Do a search for "HF-GCS" (High Frequency Global Communication System) and you should find a great deal of basic info, although details can be a bit hard to find, as the people who really know are not supposed to talk about it.

Or look right here in the RR Wiki: USAF High Frequency Global Communications System - The RadioReference Wiki

I love hearing these on shortwave! One of my favorites. I remember when I heard my first one I was not sure what I was hearing, I thought I was listening to a missile launch or something! I find I have good luck right below 60 meters band.

It really is a crapshoot!
