Have GNURadio installed...gqrx running on Linux in VMWare....Everything looks great. Monitoring local NOAA weather frequency.....Signal looks great. Waterfall looks great.

But I "hear" no audio from my laptop speakers??? Where/What am I doing wrong? Checked squelch and its not that.

I just ran into a similar issue. I just installed it all on a new Ubuntu install to use with the Airspy and I have the same issue - no audio.
Audio from Ubuntu itself is working but not gqrx.

I found it deep in the settings menu. It defaults to zero on the volume for gqrx!!!! Dragged the slider over to the right and bammm....audio out the speakers!

Hmm, not the same problem as me then. My slider was all the way to the right.
I also found that gqrx crashes if I try to change the audio output device.

Mine crashed also when trying to change audio device. I did notice that to close an opened window, that you have to hit the ESC key. Not like regular Windows operating system behavior where you hit the "X" in the upper right hand corner of the window
