I'm pretty new to this still, so forgive me if I'm just ignorant to how this all works.

I'm browsing around between 26kHz and 30kHz and I'm picking up radio shows. Robert Davi show. And, right now I hear it's WKZO (Kalamazoo, MI). Is this common for AM/FM radio signals to appear in this band?

Local AM stations can sometimes be heard with any electronic device. The strong signal can be detected with anything that acts as a diode and picked up by amplification circuits. Most likely something in your setup is doing just that. It also may be that the strong signal is overloading the front end of your SDR.

While SDR overloading is not uncommon, this doesn't sound like what you are hearing. Note that the 10 meter ham band only goes from 28.0 - 29.7 Mhz, and if such traffic was really there, people would notice

What is much more likely what you heard is a remote broadcast from a station - there are a few of these (not too many) in the 26 Mhz area. It would help to know the exact frequency, but it's a link between a transmitter and remote studio. These can be great DX catches, because it can let you know when there are band openings to be had. In your case, you just happened to catch the remote on the air.

The original post says 26-30khz (VLF) and 10 meters. If the khz is correct, then
this not 10 meters. Perhaps the poster can confirm khz or mhz ?

Many Radio/TV stations have remotes in the 25-30 mhz Band

I'm going to assume you mean mhz not khz, since you say 10m Amateur.

Please provide the Specific Frequency

Cable TV leakage from poor connectors and old corroded aluminum cables.

No, not if he is hearing AM radio. Like others have said, It's remote broadcast stations. Very common in that section of frequencies.

Here is a cut and paste from one of my memory banks of studio links in the USA that operate in that area. All are possible with sporadic E

I probably didn't do the conversion right in my head when stating kHz. I am certain tho that my SDR# program labeled the frequency range I was in was "10M Ham Band". I see the frequency as 28.211.868 (21,211.868 kHz AM shows as a tool tip when I hover my mouse near the frequency).

Previous posts are right on the money, as here on the East Coast sometimes these remote pickups are heard when the band is open. Never heard any on 10 meters (28.0 - 29.7 MHz) though. Good indicators of band conditions I guess.

Can also pick up some fairly distant IFB transmissions around 450 - 455 MHz here in NJ, coming from NYC and PA TV stations.

Thanks for the original post, forgot all about these remote pickups.

Also there are plenty of OET Experimental Licenses in the spectrum to

I'm pretty sure the 10 meter ham band is an exclusive allocation, and 28211 is well in-band. There's likely some sort of conversion or readout issue here, as the ones I've heard about are in the 25-26 Mhz area, as shown in an earlier post of this thread.
