Hello,

Trying to get Cubic program going on my Mac.
When I start it, an additional screen shows up;

Labeled: Cubic SDR: SDR Devices

On the left side it has:
Devices
Local
Apple mic.
Local Net
Remote
Manual

On the right side it says Soapy SDR Devices, and is blank.

Playing with the three bottom buttons of: Refresh, Add, Start does nothing.

How do I get passed this screen, or fill in what they require, and actually use
the program, please ? What am I missing, as usual ?

Will blame my ignorance on old age now, but have really tried most
everything i could think of.

BTW: might as well also ask:
How do you folks like Cubic ?
Suitable program for a beginner, (easy ?) or should I use Parallels, and one of the Windows
software, like HDSDR or SDRuno perhaps ?

Much thanks,
Bob

What device are you using? It should show up under local.

I like the program a lot. It’s very simplistic.

What will you be listening to? VHF/UHF or shortwave?

From OP:

Hi,

Can't get anything Soapy related to show in either left or right hand pane.
Only the Apple mic. under local.

There are some soapy options that, sometimes, I can get to show up.
Which do i select; there are none for SDRPlay.
What should i put into the PORT box, if anything ?

Is there something I should download from the Soapy files site ?
There seem to be many possibilities.

If you could walk me thru this, in great detail, (am in my 80's now and not too sharp with this) would be most appreciative. Really lost on what to do next.

Have just bought an SDRPlay RSP-2
Covers an incredible freq. range, so I hopefully can listen to most anything.
Also has 3 antenna inputs for HF and the vhf/uhf bands.
Terrific unit.
But, would love to use it with Cubic, but am lost as to what to do to get passed this window.

Thanks for help,
very appreciative,
Bob

If you can send me a screen shot of the window when I’d give you the options I might be able to help. I use a RTL-SDR.com dongle and it would just show up.

Bob,
In earlier response I missed that Cubic is a dmg, which really doesn't help you.:(

However I did a quick search using "cubicsdr for mac" on YouTube and there are a number of short videos that might held along with DarkPhonix's input.

Another possible information source. https://cubicsdr.com/

Hi,

Thanks so much for help.
Really nice of you to take the time; much appreciated.

All set now; got it to work.

Will try and decide if I like Cubic or HDSDL better, and which is easier for me to use.

Regards,
Bob

Glad you got it going Bob! I was just about to share an email for one of the SDR Play guys to see if he could help you.
