I was getting a good band opening this morning mostly from the south. I've been receiving Aiken County SC, Oglethorpe County GA and Columbia County GA all morning. I have been able to identify most of what I have heard but I have a few unidentified frequencies.

151.0925/245 DPL
155.5200/173.8 PL
159.6150/146.2 PL
158.8050/464 DPL

I'm still working on your freqs received via e-mail.

Yes, tropo was very good all night long. Tropo from as far north as central Va starting early last night eventually shifted, with central Ga coming in here this morning (almost ran late for an 8:30 meeting today).

>> 151.0925/245 DPL

nothing in my info

>> 155.5200/173.8 PL

Grovetown PD / Columbia Co, Ga ... may also be used for local fire dispatch, with radio checks about 8 a.m. daily

>> 159.6150/146.2 PL

Jackson Co, Ga Sheriffs repeater

>> 158.8050/464 DPL

in my logs, but unidentified ... law enforcement repeater / likely agency in Ga.

The conditions were good again this morning and I logged Beaufort County for the first time. I have one unidentified frequency and it is 154.655/054 DPL.

Beaufort County, N.C. or S.C. ? On rare occasions, Beaufort Co, NC fire dispatch has been logged here on 154.235 / DPL205 R.

One of the fire departments in that county reportedly uses 154.445 / 123.0 R for repeated tac purposes, which is the same freq / tone as Fairbluff fire, so listen closely if you're monitoring Fairbluff during enhanced signal conditions.

About 2 months ago, one of my scanners stopped on a medical dispatch for local Lincoln County on 155.160 / 107.2 . When I heard "Ayden" mentioned, I knew it wasn't Lincoln County, but Pitt County, NC (Greenville) instead on the same freq / tone. First time logged for their EMS channel from home.

>> I have one unidentified frequency and it is 154.655/054 DPL.

The correct freq would be 154.650, 154.6575 or 154.665. I don't have any previous info in my logs. I did get a brief hit on 154.665 / DPL054 R on Monday (09/22) morning, with law enforcement type comms. I do not typically run the Uniden 996s in narrowband mode when doing searches, so the correct frequency I heard may have been 154.6575.

(Rutherfordton and Spindale in Rutherford Co are now licensed for a few new L-E channels, including 154.6575 simplex, but I ruled that out for the source of my log since what I heard was through a repeater.)

It was Beaufort County SC that I logged Tuesday morning. I'm not sure what the correct frequency was but what I heard on 154.655/054 DPL was a repeater with LE type comms.

I was only kidding with the question. I believe you might be using your handhelds with the portable antenna ... you'd be surprised how much range can improve if you have access to a base antenna during an enhancement.

It took me a couple of years to realize I was occasionally hearing agencies in Florida. A collection of resources also helps alot, including sources for frequencies and tones, maps, a log of receptions, and a means to record tranmissions for re-listening.

My best guess, after reviewing the FCC ULS for 154.650 / 154.6575 / 154.665, is that we heard the Lavonia PD in Franklin Co, Ga ... just inside Ga along I-85.

I am using a portable antenna but I plan to put up a base antenna later this year. Also, is Lexington County SC using a repeater on 154.130/162.2 PL? Its listed in the database as simplex but I am hearing both sides of the conversation. I do believe that 154.6575 is Lavonia PD because I was getting good ducting from that direction when I logged it.

>> You're up way too late or WAY too early again

Too early, unfortunately. Actually up at 1 a.m. Spent the day at Freedom High School in Morganton. Finished a little before 8 p.m.

Next week, I have similar hours Wednesday (Newton-Conover HS) and Friday (West Caldwell HS).
