About 2 weeks ago I began experiencing some weakened sensitivity on my 996T, particularly while mobile. I thought it was an antenna connection issue since the radio jack was slightly loose. My 396 was not really having an issue. So, I swapped out the 996T I have at home & put it in the car and have had the same issue.
Now this is where it gets weird. This happens on Palmetto 800, the Highway Patrol talk groups come in weak & garbled for a one transmission & then is perfect a second later. It occurs occasionally on some of the other talkgroups but much less frequently. It never occurs on the digital talkgroups. Reception on the 996T for the Horry TRS has also weakened, but not at all on the 396T.
I think there was rebanding recently, could that have anything to do with it?
I am using a window mount 800 cellular antenna in my truck & on my work vehicle a PCTEL multiband scanner antenna on a Laird Magmount.
Any suggestions?
