First Lady is visiting Fort Jackson Army Training Base in Columbia, SC today. I believe she is suppose to arrive at the base at 1300. My USC Gameday feed is hosting the Mutual Aid talkgroups on Pal8 as well as Ft. Jackson Medical/Fire.

Not much traffic right now but I guess once she lands and the closer to 1300 it gets the more we will hear...

hmmm, just switched to the digital scanner, hopefully audio doesn't suffer, some of the transmissions are garbled as some units are using encryption, but most are not.... trying to remember the old VHF/UHF simplex SLED freq, they still use them sometimes, they did few years back when bush visited..

This is probably something that should NOT be allowed on a feed.

Might want to check with RR Admin about it.

Here, there, everywhere.
And THIS (confuzzled's reply) is why this site is going to pure crap. If there were rules in monitoring, NONE of us would be feeding anything. Quit being *expletive deleted* about the whole thing. What HAPPENED to this site?! Where did all the OMGWTFBBQ *THEPUBLIC* could be here and listening people come from? Why do you want to destroy our hobby?!

I came to this thread because I would WANT to hear this kind of traffic, and then you (confuzzled) had to go and ruin it with your OMGSOMEONESDOINGSOMETHINGGOVERNMENTRELATED. Just leave our hobby and bury your head in a hole. I'm sick of it now. I've reached my limit. I miss the good old days of trunkedradio.net.

*Shakes head in shame and apologizes to Ceasar for the thread hijack*

I'm surprised you can even listen to communications regarding presidential (family) security. I would have thought they would be using encrypted radios for that.

He's probably monitoring the local law enforcement stuff. They are the ones doing most of the work moving cars/blocking intersections for the motorcade anyway.

All the secret service stuff is encrypted.

Yes, most traffic was local law on LE Comms 8 & 10 and some of the Ft.Jackson VHF P25 traffic for moving everyone around and in and out the base...

Yeah I figured that much, but you would think that the secret service / homeland security would [temporarily] issue the local police encrypted walkies or something for use in the motorcade.

It guess I'm just surprised that you could hear them 'announce' where they are heading next.

i doubt SS/DHS has encrypted talkgroups on the pal8 system, most of their comms are probably simplex and wouldn't cover the range needed to shut down the interstate from I77 at the fort to I26 at the airport...

When I was working with the NYPD, we had presidential visits about once a month, even more with the Clintons. It would be impossible to outfit the 1,000+ personnel utilized during a presidential visit that operated on a multitude of different frequencies... traffic, highway patrol, ESU, Intel, Tac channels, etc.

I've worked a couple presidential operations. They don't give out/let us borrow their radios. They are very particular. They tell you what they want you to do, and you do it :)
