I have been monitoring the Aiken Co. fire departments for a couple of months using the freqs listed in the RR database.

I do not live in Aiken Co., but I am close enough to receive a fair amount of radio traffic.

It seems that there are at least two freqs that I never hear anything on.

Is the database accurate? Any additional information would be appreciated.

I feel like someone should, depending on where they live in the state, scan all of the conventional freq's and see if any of them are used anymore. There are many frequencies in Lexington county I haven't heard traffic in in a couple of years, and I know it's the same for Aiken county. Chances are you've stumbled across a few of the dead ones...

Yesterday, for the first time, I heard the weekly radio check. Apparently, it's done every Saturday at noon.

While some of the transmissions were very weak, I believe I heard over 20 different fire departments.

I did not find a listing of the departments on the Aiken County website. A few of the departments have their own websites.

Maybe someone could post a current list of the fire departments.

Monitored the radio check today.

Did not hear anything on:

Goose Platter 453.175
Kitchings Mill 453.025
Wagener 460.550

What is 453.250 used for? I have not tried to monitor, but saw it listed.

Each channel is a different repeater in a different part of the county. Unless you live in Aiken County it's highly unlikely you'll hear them all.

This wiki article has all the volunteer departments and the repeater they're assigned to.

The only 2 repeaters I can't confirm exist are the 2 labeled Wagener (460.550 & 453.2500). All departments are accounted for on A-F tower so unless they're backups I have no clue what they are.

It's also worth noting Aiken Public Safety tones fire on 453.6500 and North Augusta Public Safety tones fire 453.7500.

You can also hear all of that on their respective Palmetto 800 talkgroups

Good information. Not sure how I missed the RR info. I will add North Augusta and Aiken freqs for tone outs.

Thanks!
