nascar raceview

i use nascar raceview mobile app. i was curious if what drivers said on that app is exactly what the frequencies are transmitting. or is the app filtered to make it sound like your hearing everything.

For the most part, yes it's what you'd hear on the scanner at the track. They do try and censor the cussing quite a bit, which is irritating. Since my TV is usually ahead of the scanner audio, I can sync the two. Whenever they "scramble" the cussing, it throws the sync out of whack.

Hi kb2ztx. Thanks a ton for posting this list it's a huge help for us this week at Dover. I'm wondering if you picked up any more cup car tones or codes?

Thanks again

Pl tones

How do you get the PL tones? I just looked in my RE3000 for ten mnutes and couldnt figure out how to find them. I just over the air programmed it at Dover yesterday.

Im looking for the Xfinity series PL tones for my other scanner.

I think racing electronics hides the PL tones in the scanner. They can have clear scanners that don't pick up the other chatter on those frequencies and the lay people with personal scanners are stuck listening to the static and digital r2d2 thus forcing us to depend on them and their scanners for the best scanning experience. I do know for a fact that they have all the PL tones at the track side trailers but they refuse to give them out. Bottom line, grab a scanner like a bcd436hp or similar and run the discover function track side during practice and qualifying. Then match the frequencies to a known driver frequency sheet and viola you'll have your ctcss/dcs codes and yes they do use both.

The codes and frequencies above seemed to be accurate at Dover on 6/4/17 so that's a good starting point. If I remember correctly Joey Logano changed his primary frequency but I forget the new one.

Thanks to KB2ZTX for his contribution to this thread. Hopefully I'll be at New Hampshire in July and I'll post my findings then.

Here is my scanner dump. I can't upload a csv but this is a txt file. You should be able to open in excel and save as a csv file.

You don't need PL tones on a receiver, only if you want to lock out interference

If you turn CTSS or PL tones off, you will hear the traffic on the frequency no problem. PL tones are used to squelch out interference and open up the receiver when the CTSS tone (PL tone) is being transmitted, but if you have an old scanner without PL tones or simply turn off PL tones, you'll still hear the chatter.

I've used an ancient Radio Shack Pro 25 in the past at Sonoma and plan to do so again this weekend. It was really entertaining to hear Clint Bowyer flaming (@#&^%!!!) the setup back in 2012 when he first went out onto the track for practice on Friday. Ironically he won the race on Sunday.
